life-altering wonderwork...egg on my face dismissing the idea of Disney comics being good for like, years, only to be completely unprepared for the splendor on display...Rosa's artwork is next level but the thematic depth, diversity of adventures, and epic structure really elevates it from curiosity to comic bible!
not to mention this works perfectly as an investment machine for the wider Duck universe...i now think Scrooge is the greatest character ever written and even wanna know wtf is up with Donald in print, because he seems completely different from the image of a bland funny-talking hothead i've had since childhood...consider me a future completionist of the Banks/Rosa stuff and maybe even further than that...time will tell...

I decided to finally read this after the release of the 2017 Ducktales reboot even though I’d seen great reviews and accolades of the story on “best of” list for some time. Somewhere in the back of my mind I thought this story couldn’t be as fun or interesting as a Superman or Spider-Man story, but I gladly admit I was wrong.
If you like Disney, Ducktales, history, adventure, action, this is the comic for you.

Don Rosa is a genius! If only the Donald Duck books coming out today had ANY part of the spark that these had. And to think this was done as an homage to Carl Barks. My 6 year old daughter LOVES Scrooge and Donald and these have turned into a 3 generational shared experience. My 6 year old, her 40 year old parents and my 75 year old father all love these. The breadth of the stories, the text density and complexity is amazing. Can't wait to give her volume 2 to read.
