“and this vengeful part of me wants to hurt you before you can ever hurt me again.”
i read this in one sitting, thought it was quite beautiful. some of these poems felt deeply personal and v relatable.

Nothing about this poetry is particularly groundbreaking or provoking, but that’s part of the beauty that Lili Reinhart can create a collection that is comforting and familiar. These pages don’t beg you to analyze life or pull emotions out of the depth of your soul, but rather tell you, “I’ve been here too.”

It almost feels otherworldly reading something feeling ad if you had written it. That’s what happened when I read this. As if I was having an out of body experience because Lili expresses all of these things I’ve felt, experienced. Anxiety, sadness, heartbreak and love.
She is not only an amazing human but a great writer and I think she’ll only get better.
No this isn’t Baudelaire - but I didn’t expect it to be and if you are then you’re picking out the wrong book. It’s really like taking a great writer’s thought journal.

Honestly, I didn't get a total kick out of this book. The book deals with the different stages of love and relationship such as love-at-first-sight, cuddling, heart-break, break-up, and etcetera. I, for my part, have never experienced any of these states of emotions. So, this is the reason why I didn't enjoy reading these poems written by gorgeous Lili Reinhart. But I do recommend all the love-birds out there to read this book.

Started out strong for me, then just kinda tapered off. Poetry is, of course, subjective; however, I found that narrow subject focus became repetitive for me (maybe I should have spaced out my reading of the poems more?). Personally, I'd have enjoyed it more if the best of the subject had been included and a new subject introduced (not necessarily focused on romantic relationships), or the best chosen and the collection have been shorter.
