There are a lot of things I love about Katie McGarry's Pushing the Limits series. I'd be lying if said those charming Louisville boys didn't top the list, but coming in at a close second is the incredibly complex and strong heroines that take on said boys. Matter of fact, Haley takes the show for me in this fourth installment of the series.

That doesn't mean West isn't swoon worthy. Oh, contraire mon frère. West is everything you'd expect him to be when you meet him in CRASH INTO YOU. He's that bad boy who lets his emotions get the best of him, but you'll see a side to him that only l-o-v-e can make him show. OH. And he's [Yeah, right. Like I'd really tell you the big secrets you'll learn in this book. Your jaw will drop, though.]

Haley. Haley is AMAZING. She's like a tootsie pop! She's got a thick, hard shell that surrounds and protects a soft center. She's got what is probably the most dysfunctional family situation I've ever read about. Most people (myself included) would have cracked under the pressure of her life. She, quite literally, has no one to count on and, more heartbreaking, feels like she doesn't deserve anyone to fill that position. She and West have a lot in common on that front. Which is why there is no lack of delicious angst in their story.

West and Haley's story takes place during a key point in time of CRASH INTO YOU. It is highly recommended that you read this series in order or you will be spoiled beyond all spoilage. Those perky Hollywood stars that carry around small dogs in even smaller purses would be less spoiled than you. So don't read out of order!

I'm a huge Katie McGarry fan and I can't wait to see who gets the next story in the series. (I mean, besides the second Noah and Echo book we're getting!) I may start begging for Abby's story next. THAT girl is going to make a killer main character.

I positively adore the Pushing the Limits series. Katie McGarry brings her characters to life and makes you feel. I was excited to get West’s story in Take Me On and once again McGarry delivered and I found myself wrapped up in West and Haley’s story.

Five reasons to grab a coffee to go and read Take Me On:

1. Take Me On at its heart is a romance but it offers so much more. We see character growth, friendship, trust and forgiveness.

2. West. I have wanted West’s story from the beginning and I loved getting to know this troubled young man. He has traits to admire and his personal suffering is brought to the surface and exposed. I loved his integrity and the growth we see in him.

3. Haley. Haley had been at the top and crashed to the bottom. Her relentless love for her family and need to protect them and putting them first was so noble, but her sacrifices were great. I loved seeing her bloom, accept, let go and grow.

4. A sizzling attraction with all the feels as McGarry slowly allows this romance to develop. Sure, we felt some insta-attraction and feelings but she gave the romance depth allowing the reader to believe.

5. Mixed Martial Arts, a conflict, a villain and little side stories about the families, and other characters made for a well-rounded story that kept me fully engaged and invested.

Take Me On was all that I hoped for with fleshed out characters and depth. If you have not tried the Pushing the Limit series, all I can say is go, go forth and grab them, read them, hug them and let them into your heart.

This was so cute. :) I thought I wasn't going to like any of the characters in this book because I kinda hated west in the third but actually I really enjoyed it.

I loved this series. West is something special though.

The thing that I love most about this series is that each of the characters are flawed and real. They’re broken in some way. These books are emotionally charged. The characters have a lot of things that they have to overcome. They’re struggling.

This book was amazing and blew me away. It was hard to read at times. It had me smiling, laughing, crying, and my heart was pounding. I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what happened next. I was so absorbed in this story that I started reading this book at midnight and didn’t notice when the sun came up and everyone in my family had awoke to start their day the next morning. Afterwards I was wide awake and couldn’t sleep. I kept thinking about my favorite scenes and couldn’t get this story out of my head. My heart was still racing thinking about it.

The writing is flawless. The story will tug on your heart strings. This book will blow you away. Far, far away.

I hated West in Crash Into You, but he stole my heart in Take Me On. I got to know him and understand him on another level and I saw him for who he was.

Haley is remarkable. She’s brave, tough, amazing, and badass. Her life is far from perfect. She’s from the wrong side of the tracks. She’s a fighter, but she’s given it up and doesn’t talk about why.

West’s family is the richest family in town. If you read Crash Into You, you’re already familiar with him since he’s Rachel’s brother.

West needs someone to train him to fight and Haley helps him. Feelings form between the two of them and they slowly let their guards down.

They shouldn’t be together. But, they belong with each other. They have a connection, a bond. They have chemistry and sparks fly when they’re together.

West grows a lot in this book. I think seeing how much he’s changed from Crash Into You to now made me see him in a new light.

Haley and West bring out the best in each other. They help each other become stronger.

If you’re looking for a book with great writing, amazing character development, swoon worthy hero, and a tough heroine this is the book for you. This is considered a standalone, but I do recommend reading the previous books in this series, especially Crash Into You.

Rating: 4 stars

Some quotes from Take Me On:

“We’re strong together, Hayley. Stronger then we are apart.”
“I don’t feel strong,” I whisper.
“Then I’ll be strong enough for both of us.”
My fingers dig into his shoulders and I cling to him.
“I love you.”

“Don’t think of it as falling. Think of it as jumping- with me.”
“How is jumping better?”
“Falling happens. Jumping you choose.”

“Silences seem longer in darkness. I think it’s because it’s harder to lie when the lights are off. There’s a rawness that only belongs to the night and the truth can’t help but be set free.”

I just really love this series. Every single book has sucked me right in, kept my interest and I don't even notice the fact that there isn't any sex in it. I really enjoyed West in this book. I was on the fence with him in the last book, but he totally won me over. Even though Haley and West had a crap ton going on in their lives, and of course it's never easy, it was great to see them make the right choices.

'Take Me On' is probably my favorite book in this series (okay, it's tied with 'Pushing the Limits'). After the last book, I really didn't like West, but this book changed my opinion of him completely. Now I want to read stories about Jax and Kaden!

After liking Crash Into You but not loving it, I am so glad that Take Me On reminded me why I love Katie McGarry. She builds up tension so well between her characters and she makes you care about both sides.

I don't remember much of West from Crash Into You. I don't remember being excited when I heard that he was going to be the focus on Katie's next book but he won me over. Even though he did wrong, there was good intention behind it and the guilt he feels is very genuine.

Haley has been dealt a bad hand. Her dad loses his job, they lose their home, and they are forced to live with a dictator of an uncle. It's such an unhealthy family situation and I wanted her parents to step up and talk their kids out of it. Instead Haley works a ton, searches for scholarships for college, and plays it safe. But she has demons from her last relationship and has completely turned away from her love of mixed martial arts.

Despite differences in money situations, Haley and West have a lot more in common that some of the other characters in Katie's books. They are loyal and stubborn and stumbling to find their way. Right off the bat they are totally attracted to each other, but try to contain it. When Haley starts training West for a fight, all bets are off. They confide in each other, and also make sacrifices for one another even if it means losing. Bonus: hardly see a male virgin in young adult and it was a refreshing change.

For as sexy as it was, TAKE ME ON is a lot about taking initiative of your life even if it means turning away from your parents and making your own way. Both characters have to find the strength and bravery to do this -- together and apart.

One thing: Almost 500 pages is HEFTY for this kind of book. Could have probably told the same story at 350. (For this reason I might prefer to purchase an eBook or paperback over a hardcopy.)

There were some parts of this book that I really liked: the kick-ass heroine, the great chemistry between characters. But there were many places that this book fell short for me as well. It was a little confusing in places, and some of the choices that were made and the reasoning behind them are still unclear. There were also characters that I wanted to know more about that appeared at the beginning of the story and suddenly vanished part way through, or just did not get the amount of screen time that they deserved. Though a fun novel to read, this one fell short for me, especially when compared to the rest of the books in this series.
