I was worried. I didn't like Dare you to as much as I loved Pushing the Limits and I skipped Isaiah's story, because I never liked him. But all the people who feel like me can relax, it's as strong as Pushing the Limits. But it took me a while to arrive to that conclusion.

In this book, not only the main characters have baggage, but all the characters. And that's usually quite dangerous, because most of the time those extra pieces of baggage are gratuitous. Thankfully, not this time.

This is a beautifully round story.

There was only one thing that bothered me: some of those scenes where the characters so to speak appraise each other seemed like the ones you find in adult erotic books, where nothing's as important as finally getting to the point.

It was strange and stupid, because Katie McGarry is a good writer, if she could write all other parts of the book in an original way, why couldn't she write these or why did she switch to panels of a different genre?

Anyway, it's 5-star.

I really loved the depth and development we see from West in this book. He definitely is not the same young man by the end of the book, and it was such a positive change. There's a bit of crossover with a couple events at the end of Crash Into You, so it was cool to see how that continuity worked. I'm always impressed when books from a series take place in overlapping time frames. I feel like there could have been a little bit more from Haley at the end of the book, with some of her conversations with Mrs. Collins, but like West, she grew so much over the course of the book, and it was nice to see that fight in her again by the end. It was also really cool to see some of the parental figure/young adult relationships throughout this book. Some were positive, some were dysfunctional, and some were seriously messed up, but that's a nice example of normal dynamics. In life we all have positive and negative role models, and I love that this series does a great job of humanizing everyone, even the adults who are somewhat despicable at first. Finally, Abby continues to be a delightful side character and I hope that she gets her own book one of these days.

Hard to believe it, but McGarry ups the plot melodrama even more than in the previous 3 books in the series. Underneath all the soap opera, though, are some interesting questions about gender, especially masculinity, in a culture where toughness reigns: "If it does come down to you and Matt in the cage, if he hands his ass to you, will Matt be right? Can you stand to look the girl you care for in the eye knowing that in public her ex proved he's stronger than you? (313). And the issue of boys being protective of their girls vs. allowing said girls to make their own choices, which had been a strong theme throughout the series, continues here. The characters of West and Haley are well, if briefly, drawn, and serve as good foils to one another—an emotional, impulsive person vs. a person who has to think things out. Having the girl be the physically stronger, more successful fighter was a nice twist. Could have done without the constant "I have to lie/not tell the entire truth in order to protect you" thing, which both West and Haley do throughout the book. Ah, but without the secrets, we'd have no melodrama, would we?

This book would now be my favorite book written by Katie!! I loved reading every moment of it and i wonder how Katie writes amazing books that makes me connect to the books so much. I liked that West changed and figured out that he is not ruled by his name but actually be the person he wants to be. I am so over the moon that Haley got over her fear but starting to get over it started the moment she met West. They helped each other out on there demons and I like that none of them are ruled by money and they find happiness without a lot of money. Katie you did an amazing job!!!! Loved all your books so far.

I have been desperate to read this book since the moment I heard about it, and it's been a long and painful wait till I was able to finally pick it up and read it. One thing I love about this series is how it overlaps and follows the previous books in the series, and Take Me On is no exception. West and Haley's story is told during the events near the end of Crash Into You. I loved getting to see some of the old characters, whether I loved them or hated them.

Take Me On alternates chapters between West and Haley, once again giving us two sides to the story, and letting us see what the other person is thinking and feeling. When I initially began reading it took me a while to make the connection of who West is, this was aided with the mention of his sister Rachel and the event at the end of Crash Into You.

The characters in Take Me On do not have easy lives. West has been kicked out of his home and is living in his car. Haley and her family have also lost their home, but are staying with her Uncle who isn't exactly the most friendly person around. Both West and Haley are stubborn to a fault, but this makes then somehow endearing and you can't help feel sympathy towards them.
I loved Haley's family, her cousin Jax may be a pain in the ass, but he has good intentions and does what he does to keep her safe. Her brother Kaden you don't see as much as Jax, but he is hiding in the background also keeping an eye on Haley.

Take Me On was just as addictive as the previous books in the series, but I have never felt as nervous as I read whilst reading this one. The constant threat of never knowing what was going to happen in the end made for a very nervous read. Add into the mix the doubts about the relationship, the ever present ex hovering in the shadows ready to stake his claim on Haley again, and beat West to a pulp. Then if all went to plan would West actually survive and finish in one piece?

Katie McGarry has once again worked her magic with words, and even though Take Me On is a big book, I flew through the pages. The only problem with reading this book at this moment in time, is the HUGE wait to have the next book in my hands. January needs to get here fast.

eh, not my favorite
