Cute story but kinda boring. Also hard to decipher between the two protagonists when speaking; they had the same voice more or less.

I love the way Deanna Grey writes such complex people to become couples. I waited way too long to read this because I don’t read blurbs and because of the cover I thought it was a YA story (smh). But it was such a great read and I loved how they both were insecure yet competitive. Wary of and yet enamored by each other. I enjoyed the way the harmfulness of being a people pleasure and being the strong one was shown. I also liked how not everything was perfect and resolved in the end. It solidified the realism of the story!

this book was written for me specifically. not even that, this book was written about alternate versions of me. i am so much like both leads it’s weird.
I will always admit that I don’t always reach for a romance novel when the mood strikes for me to read. But something about this cover and plot summary made me want to know more. I loved the set up between Sage and Noah. The backstory and why they are the way they are. I also loved that there was no obvious third act breakup. Was there a disagreement / argument ? Yes. Did they immediately “end” what barely started ? No. They talked it through and validated the other while also acknowledging that they both needed to do better.
Neither Noah nor Sage are perfect human beings but that’s what made the romance great for me. This showcased how they perfect they were for each other.
I’m firmly on team no third act breakup because usually this leads to unnecessary conflict to make filler / increase page number / imaginary stakes / etc. But Deanna Grey didn’t give us anything imaginary - everything was solid and heartfelt. I’m rooting for these two forever and always.
