This books was delightful. It was encouraging to see 2 people grow together in the most unconventional way. 2 people with one purpose. I did cry a lot reading this. I found out there is a movie, so I plan on watching it soon.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the Love Comes Softly series. They are great books, including this one.

I really enjoyed getting lost in their old times world...
I felt like I should get up and boil coffee on the wood stove and sew my own dresses and have to ride half a day into town to get supplies...
I loved feeling lost in their world...

This is a beautiful romance. It's a slow burn romance set in the midwest. Marty lost her husband and finds herself with child. Clark needs a mother for his baby girl, Missy. He makes a deal with Marty that if she would marry him and be a mother to Missy and help him until spring he would pay for her ticket home. Marty has no idea of how to be a mother or farmer's wife. She does her best for Missy. She gets help from mother who shows her how to cook, sew, and mend. She learns about God as Clark reads his Bible and goes to church with him as the weather permits. When Clark notices the pregnancy he begins to get ready for the new arrival. Marty is touched by Clark's caring ways, but is still grieving her husband.
Graphic: Grief, Pregnancy, Fire/Fire injury
Moderate: Child death, Death
Christian romance, family, western, farm, children, pregnancy, grief, overcoming grief
DNF @ 25% Given that I own and have watched the movie series repeatedly, I can’t believe I’m DNFing this but it’s not keeping me engaged. Maybe it’s because I have the movie in my head, maybe it’s because Marty’s whining lasts longer and is more annoying in the book, or.... probably a combination of all of it. It’s not bad, just not holding my attention.
