I don't know how many times I read this growing up, but it's been a good many years since I reread it, and I'm so glad I did. Just as good as I remember, Janette Oke really makes you fall in love with her characters and brings you straight in the middle of the prairie and hardships the pioneers used to endure.
This book is a classic, inspirational, Christian romance. Written clear back in 1979, it is still a lovely, uplifting story that I enjoyed. It is a novel that celebrates the traditional virtues of marriage, family, community, hard work and or course, true enduring love. I am looking forward to reading Janette Oke's sequels to this book, as well as her other series.

Historical christian read.
Centered around God and family. Life's challenges and joys. Adulthood.
Because it is set in the West and older days, there is a standard of wife stays home while husband provides, etc.
However it doesn't preach it heavily. It just talks about it to help us understand the setting in time and space. Both mentally and physically.
In truth I thought some thoughts and words were inspiring. Something to ponder on.
If the language was the same as it has been read in, cowboy like western accent, then I don't think I could have understood it as well. Listening to the audiobook helps.
