Okay so I'm going to start of by saying I enjoyed this more than Halo. The main plot started almost right away whereas in Halo it seemed to take ages before there was even a plot. I have to admit it kept me gripped, I wanted to know what was going to happen which is a good acheivement.

BUT I didn't like some of the description. I knew from Halo that Adornetto likes her long detailed descriptions but I felt that in this book some of it wasn't necessary. Some scenes were quite horrible and described in such detail that I actually felt sick at times. At one point some of the torture in the pits in the underworld were described and that was really horrible. There were a few other occasions to when I thought that the idea could easily be conveyed through less...gory (not sure that's the right word but it's close enough) descriptions. That wasn't what I was expecting after Halo. I wanted to read a teen/paranormal/romance kind of book and in places this seemed like a horror.

However, Adornetto's ability with description meant that the 'actiony' scenes were really exciting and gripping.

Overall it was better than Halo, the descriptions just annoyed me which is why I only give it 3.5 stars.

Keen to read the last one

I had previously read Halo about two years ago. All that I pretty much remember is that, although it did have some faults, it was still a pleasant read and I enjoyed it very much. I don’t know now if it is because I have changed so much in the past two years or just the mere fact that I have read so many better books since then but, this book failed to impress me.

Hades starts off around Halloween and Xavier and Beth’s relationship is still going stronger than ever. However, things go wrong at the Halloween party they attend when Beth and her friends perform a seance and allow a bad spirit enter the human world. Who could this evil spirit be? Well, it turns out to be Jake, the villain from Halo, and he is back to claim Beth as his own. He is able to kidnap her and take her to Hell with him. As you can guess, the rest of the novel is pretty much the quest to find a way to rescue Beth from Hell. And of course, you also see what things happen to Beth while she is in the underworld.

I found so many things that I did not like about this book that I do not even know where I should start. But one the biggest issues I had has got to be Beth. She is one of the most useless female characters I have ever encountered in a novel. You would expect that since she comes from the supernatural world, she will be able to defend herself in some form or another. But no, she waits for someone to come to her rescue. I just felt she never did anything for herself. Also, I just feel she has no other reason for living other than Xavier. Which is totally fine, I guess, but, just like, no. I just could not stand that part of her. I also did not like that she was so naive. I don’t know, she is just not a good character overall. The biggest problem I have with her is that she is just another Mary Sue. In some ways, she is way worse than Bella Swan.

Honestly speaking, I just feel this story could have been a hundred times better with a more developed Beth or without her. Her character really brings down the story for me. Even Xavier gets on my nerves because all he ever thinks about is saving Beth and all that shenanigans.

One of the characters I actually enjoyed was Jake because he had flaws and he was just an overall interesting character. Yes, he was the villain but I found him so much more interesting than boring old Beth.

I just can’t with this book right now honestly. Like Beth should just… like stop. And there is still another book in the series and I don’t even know if I will read that now. Especially with the ending, what happens in the other book is pretty much very predictable and I could already get an idea on how this series will end.

I Picked this book up for a dollar, and though well if it's bad it was only a dollar, after reading it I want my dollar back.
THere are plenty of bad reviews on this site so no matter how much I hated it I will write what I didn't hate, or maybe even liked, I liked Jack (jake? I can't remember) He actually seemed to have genuine feelings for Bethany, and I kind of felt like he deserved better, and needed better taste in girls. I also liked how he flat out said Bethany was stupid and gullible for falling for his trick.
I thought at one point it was gonna have a cool twist where it was going to flesh out the whole "the high ranking demons used to be angels" thing but they didn't, so that was a bummer.
At Least I only lost a dollar on this, and 6 hours

Really good LOVE XAVIER AND BEATHANY!!!!!! Fuck you Jake

idk how much of a straight edge the author must be if hell is just a sin bin of nightclubs and seedy hotels for our protagonist to sneer at bc she (and the author) is a good christian girl

Note: This book contains; kidnapping, violence, and sexual assault. If you are sensitive to any of these topics, this might not be the book for you. So beware.

I thought that this book was a lot better than Halo. Hades had picked up on the action bit a lot quicker than Halo. It did have less of the lovey-dovey scenes but those were replaced with longing-from-afar scenes, which weren't as annoying. I do see a theme of the damsel in distress thing with the main character is a thing in this book, which I'm not a big fan of. It didn't bother me while reading the book, but now that I'm taking a step back from it, it is a flaw I see within the books. I'm hoping that in the last book is the book where the main character will stand up a bit more for herself and not rely on her brother, sister, and boyfriend to rescue her in the end.

Boo-fucking-hoo and a triple boohoo. And Merde. And poo. Oh Allie, you never fail to disappoint me. Whenever I feel like dissing someone, I just pick one of your books and i am off within seconds.

*full review laterrr*

I'm kind of ashamed to admit that I sort of liked this book. I found Halo really annoying and the characters were static. Hades was okay...it still wasn't great. Who knows maybe Heaven will be really good...though im a little skeptical about that. The only characters I really like in this book were Gabriel and Molly. Xavier was getting on my nerves with all that whining...get over yourself dude! Jake was pretty bad ass in this one, he knows how to rule hell in style XD. The descriptions were insanely long and weren't needed. The author would take a whole page to describe a table or something

I think the words to the song A Demon's Fate, by Within Temptation is a perfect sum up of this book....

Too many times
Seeing the violence
It's feeding my mind
No one is saving you
How can you find
A heaven in this hell?

Leave it behind
Hearing your silence
It screams our goodbye
Cannot believe it's an eye for an eye
Love is gone to waste

Angels have faith
I don't want to be a part of his sin
I don't want to get lost in his world
And this playing this game

When the shadows remain in the light of day
On the wings of darkness he'll retaliate
He'll be falling from grace
Till the end of all his days

From the ashes of hate
It's a cruel demon's fate
On the wings of darkness
He's returned to stay
There will be no escape
Cause he's fallen far from grace

What have you done?
Is this what you wanted?
What have you become?
His soul's not forsaken
You're walking alone
From heaven into hell
Now that you know
Your way in this madness
Your powers are gone
Your chains have been broken
You've suffered so long
You will never change.

Angels have faith
I don't want to be a part of his sin
I don't want to get lost in his world
I'm not playing this game

When the shadows remain in the light of day
On the wings of darkness
He'll retaliate

It's a cruel demon's fate
On the wings of darkness
He's returned to stay
There will be no escape
Cause he's fallen far from grace
