I couldn’t have cared less about the mystery, and the story dragged at points. But the main characters were enjoyable and the romance sweet and understated.

This one was enjoyable in the sense that I was intrigued by this world, and it was a relaxing read. But the rest of it felt like building up for the series. Maybe the characters will get more fleshed out in later books because they were just ok in this one, as well as the mystery part.

Took a bit for me to get into (I was fairly distracted by some life events).
I enjoyed the history between the two main characters and liked the mystery/investigation aspect. Not sure I had enough detail to really get immersed in this future world. I wanted more of the politics and felt less but in than I prefer in my books.

Skirting the line of overwritten, but a perfectly enjoyable mystery. Reminded me a lot of classic sci-fi in that it was much more concerned with plot and idea than depth of worldbuilding or character (though Mossa and Pleiti had more personality than many classic sci-fi protagonists, and their romance was cute).
