I am hoping that Faith Erin Hicks has recycled this story that was published over a decade ago, because she wants to continue with the story. I say this because it feels like there is more to the story. Especially with a surprised that shows up in the last chapter.

Very likable heroine and her side kick. Typical mean girls, but I keep thinking that the author has plans for more exploration.

Cute story of life at a private boarding school, but it did’t get very far in to everyone’s life. It was more a snapshot.

So, hopefully, there will be more, and we can see more than just the surfaced of these girls.

Two outcasts in an elite boarding school discover the value of working together to bring down the bully, all while avoiding becoming the bullies themselves.

3.5. There's very little new or innovative about this "underdog bests bully" story, but it's well done and sweet - and stars women, for a change. There's a little bit of mystical realism - really, just a smidge - but overall, yes, let your tweens read this on a rainy day.

This felt unfinished, like it could be a whole series of stories. I liked it but wanted so much more.

I thought this was a fun, quick read, even if the explanation for why the mean girl is so mean felt incredibly lacking. She's mean because she is, that's it. But I am a fan of Hick's art style and I LOVED the twist about what lived in the woods.

This book was by far better than Friends with Boys in certain aspect. The main character reminds me so much of Daria who is absolutely one of the best characters I've encountered in television and I love all the sarcastic remarks in this book.

This book is about a girl name Juniper aka Jun, who is a scholarship student to the prestigious Ellsmere Academy. She wants to become a doctor and believes by attending this school, it will speed up the process towards getting into an Ivy League University. I love this character from the very beginning because even though she is smart, she knows how to defend herself among bullies especially this girl name Emily, and knows how to understand people.

Along the way she becomes great friends with her roommate and you experience the typical aspect of living in a boarding school. I love the feud between Jun and Emily because for once this big bully finally comprehends that she has met someone who isn't the typical pathetic wimp she teases around and someone that she has to compete strongly against when it comes to academics.

This was such a pleasure book to read and I wished this could have been a series because I would love to read more about Jun and her adventures with Cassie.

Cute, fun read. The artwork was lovely.

This is a really cute friendship story, and I love the art style and the coloring. However, the one random fantasy element did not fit at all, and made for a completely weird climax and resolution. I enjoyed this a lot, and it was a fun, quick read, but I have no idea why the author would throw in a completely unnecessary fantasy twist in an otherwise realistic and believable story. That makes this three stars instead of four stars for me.
