Rather than cute (like the first one), I found this one more anxiety inducing and depressing. I thought the characters were infuriating, particularly Lydia and Gene. Rosie didn't seem to think Don could ever do anything right and I'm wondering why she married him if she felt that way. I'm curious if Simon will write a third book. I might read it just to see if the series redeems itself.

I didn’t find this book as interesting as the first in the series. It wasn’t as funny and felt very dense.

I’m always fascinated by unusual characters who are extremely logical and struggle with emotional connection. I sometimes relate to that. I’m capable of being very emotional with those I’m close to but the logical side of things appeals to me very much. I can’t stand certain etiquette and traditions and I’m bothered by the world’s desire to provoke emotions from people for some kind of strange fulfillment.

Rosie frustrated me a lot in this one...I still liked it, just not as much as the first one.

Easy read but not as enjoyable as the first. It just felt like there was too much going on, maybe the author was trying too hard or something. Idk it was good but just felt forced and random at points.

I would say this is really more like 3.5, because I enjoyed it and laughed, but my overwhelming feeling was of frustration. ROSIE. Girl. You cannot expect anyone, but most particularly Don Tillman, to read your mind. I know that was the plot device that made this a story, but this is ridiculous. I'm going to spoiler this next part, but it's not very spoiler-y
SpoilerFirst she purposely gets pregnant without telling him, then expects him to be not himself in adjusting to the news, then refuses to talk about how she feels while expecting him to magically understand and modify his behavior, and then when he makes attempts - some of which are pretty good, like the stroller - she writes it all of as his lack of interest/inadequacy.
I spent the whole novel wanting to smack her, and sometimes Don too. I think the character of Don was consistent to the first novel and Simsion delivered there. Honestly, perhaps my frustration with a character isn't justified - I can't really say whether it was poor writing or a believable human frailty, but either way it irked me. I'd still totally be in for book 3, though.

I liked The Rosie Project much more. This was not as charming and funny. Entertaining characters, but mostly, I wanted to shake Rosie!

Still cute, but also infuriating at times.

Don Tillman is one of my favorite fictional characters ever. I didn't love this one as much as I loved The Rosie Project but it was still pretty great. Fun and quirky

Not quite as good as The Rosie Project, but it was great to visit these characters again as they try to prepare for parenthood.
