Oddball (autistic) professor is settling into married life when his wife becomes pregnant. A number of mishaps (being suspected of paedophilia and terrorism…) might be comic to some readers. We root for his success.
I feel that this one is missing some of the humor that I loved in The Rosie Project. Everything seemed much too serious. Rosie knew what she was getting into when she married Don but now she's "accidentally" pregnant and realizes he's "too crazy." I would have found it much more enjoyable to see Rosie and Don go through the pregnancy together instead of all the secret-keeping (a problem I had with the Sarah MacLean book I just read, too.).
Loved this charming sequel to the also charming, The Rosie Project.
I love these books. I was a bit skeptical with this one, wondering if it was one of those follow ups that had more to do with cashing in on popularity than telling a good story. Thankfully, this was not the case at all.
The characters are the same, so the challenges inherent to their personalities, Don's in particular, are still present. This time, Rosie and Don are learning to cope with the ideas of being parents. Given Don's unique perspective, hilarity ensues amid some rather touching moments.
I will say that and this made up for it.

I was a bit disappointed in Rosie as a character. Granted, she has always been a self-focused, but I often found her hard to like in this book. On the other hand, Don's situation greatly made up for the deficit
I adored The Rosie Project and was saving this sequel for myself as a treat, but I kinda wish I'd skipped it. It took away some of the magic of the first book, and made me really dislike Rosie. It was quite contrived and out there, I still love Don and it had its good bits, but like most sequels it wasn't nearly as good as the first.
If you liked The Rosie Project, you'll like this sequel. It's a little predictable and some of the plot twists are stolen from sitcoms (Don tries to keep a problem from Rosie and finds the covering up of his lies is more stressful than he realized!! A miscommunication causes confusion!) Don's character is so likable and the story has a lot to like, too. A fun read.
