this would probably be great for young children and easily accessible for them! i'm not rating it because it's clearly not for me. i borrowed it from the library because i'm waiting for my other evaristo hold :x

This is a quick read under 100 pages. It is written as if the boy is talking directly to his mother and how he ended up murdered. Its a tough, emotional and raw read that still happens to this day and how one decision can change your entire life. Heartbreaking read. Impacts the reader. One I won’t be able to forget for a long time.

A short novella about life as a teen in London and the intersection of gang violence. Hard hitting themes about relationships and effects of gangs in the community. Wonderfully narrated.

verrrrrry short. duhr. trying to reach my reading goal.

ngl really goofy up until the very last page. the thought of a grown woman sitting down to write Raaaah! and Mandem is quite funny.

ending was excellently executed. tbh just goes to show how easy it is for youngins to get mixed up with the wrong people. Iceland on top.

My main issue was how short this book/novella was. Bernardine Evaristo always writes engaging characters in realistic scenarios but the plot choices in this book made it fall flat for me.

A powerful short story.
