It wasn't as humorous as I thought it was going to be.

I'm not going to lie, I read Devilish because Maureen Johnson had tweeted that it was free as an ebook and having seen several customers but it I thought I'll have to give it a try. I love the cover, the colour is very pretty and the cupcake looks good enough to eat!

I liked Jane, our main character who was funny and always seemed to do her best and try to help others no matter what they did to her which I think is an important message. But I found Ally really annoying and just a little bit stupid but I guess if you're not happy with yourself you'll do just about anything to get others to like you so you can like yourself.

This was a quick easy read and just what I need as I read it while I was a little unwell last week. It allowed me to delve in and out of the story without thinking to much about it but that doesn't take away from Johnson's writing. You can really hear her voice in this early novel, her wit and humour really shine in this story.

I gave this story 3 out of 5 stars because it's the kind of story to read when you have a few hours to spare, or like me when you're a little ill. It's not deep and meaningful and it doesn't pretend to be, it's just a quick easy read.

Fast, fun, and funny read. I enjoyed the high school take on demons.

So it wasn't until I was about 2/3 of the way through this book that I realized I didn't like it. It was like a bad Twilight. There really was no character development, although that was kind of nice compared to Bella's constant angst over everything. A bit on the ridiculous side.

I liked this book for the strong voice of the protagonist, Jane, but I knew the ending was going to make it or break it; It didn't work for me. How about the angel guy, Owen? He was no help at all at the end. I would've been like, thanks for nothin', dude.

Fast-paced. A little weirder than what I usually read, though. And this was WEIRD.
