Scorpions, a missing sneaker, wild onions, and lipstick! Only a genius could make it work!

This is one of those stories that because I already knew it from watching the film so many times, my mind tricked me into thinking I had read the book as well. But it turns out that I had actually never read the book so this was my first time.

And I actually really enjoyed it. The friendship between Stanley and Zero is really lovely to read, and the moving between the present day and the past with Kate Barlow is really well done. It doesn’t feel too disjointed or anything like that.

Plus I love the whole cosmic coincidence of everything, and that these two kids were brought together because of a promise made all those years before them was so funny to me.

Also, Kissin’ Kate Barlow is an icon and I don’t think Sam the Onion Man can fix my broken heart.
