This was really good! But it also made me sad because how are you supposed to read this AFTER Abuela, Don’t Forget Me? It’s almost as if the two don’t totally match up. I enjoyed this! I did! But the way his mom was depicted in Abuela was a lot different than in this one. And maybe that was intentional, because some of it was still there, in order to make it easier for kids. It was still a good read!

Loved this very typical middle school tale that is both a disaster and an inspiration. Particularly enjoyed that it involved getting glasses (something I went through though at a much younger age).
