I watched the movie first and then I chose to read the book. The book was amazing and took me to a new place entirely. Read this book you won't regret it, it has love, mystery, and family!

Great book! I've been wanting to read this one for a long time.

Yeah!! Montana! Let's go to the middle of nowhere. Oh, this one, the ~villain POV segments were awfully clangy and so foreboding and overfrequent that I often was like, wait, they can't go do that fun thing, the VILLAIN will get them! But he didn't. But I was poised for danger, all the time, because that aspect was overdone. But montana!

I started this one without reading the synopsis so I had no idea what to expect but this book really surprised me. It literally has a little bit of everything - mystery, sex, thrills, murder, romance, suspense, cows - all that you could hope for. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that has so many depths and that gives you a peek into the thoughts of almost every character. A lot of them grew on me and I really enjoyed reading this. Will be checking out more from this author in the future. Will also be moving to Montana to live on a ranch.

Thank you so much for this book Maddie❤️

I love this story. This was a reread (one of many) so I knew the plot already. It’s a murder mystery, coupled with family drama and secrets coming out. Some of the trigger warnings are marital abuse and kidnapping, descriptive murder scenes, but I’m sure I’ve missed some so please check the authors warnings as well. But it’s a great story and the characters are interesting? Have dynamic relationships with each other, especially the sisters.

An epic Nora classic featuring 3 love stories in one. The Mercy sisters had never had a chance to bond. Their father, Jack Mercy, was a hard man who exiled his wives and children after each divorce. Now that Jack is dead his will demands that his three daughters all live together for a year or they forfeit their inheritance. Now they are trying to last the year to get their share of the Mercy ranch and maybe a family. Tess is definitely a city girl and she is just marking time before heading back to her job as a screenwriter in LA. Lily is on the run from an abusive ex and thankful for the chance to start fresh in Montana. Willa is the only daughter raised by Jack and she is desperate to save the ranch. Just as the sisters start to bond violence comes to Mercy in the form of a dead body. Small animals and women keep showing up mutilated on Mercy land. The thriller aspect of this story is well written and wonderfully crafted. The sisters' relationship and their relationships with their love interests are dynamic and balanced. This is a can't miss Nora Roberts novel! I know what I’m getting into when I pick Nora Roberts up, but it usually isn’t this tedious and overwrought. When you’re not too busy being frustrated at how every last character is stereotypical to the point of caricature, you might vaguely follow the plot line about a killer loose on a ranch. Then it ties itself neatly up and you’re wondering why you went through 500 pages of this.
