Hilarious, inventive, mysterious ... I can't quite bring myself to "realistic," but this book is a rollicking good ride.

It was hard to get past all of the raunchiness and F-bombs in this book. The plot was good and had the other stuff not been there, it actually would have been a nice contemporary romance mixed with some teen adventure. Some people will like this, but it just wasn't for me.

I enjoyed the humor of the book and how quirky the teachers where.
I didn't like how in the end everyone changed in a blink of an eye. If the book was longer it might have worked out better.. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either

This book is really good. Slow in the beginning, but picks up in the middle. It pretty much picked up so fast that before i knew it’s it was almost the end of the book.

A TRIP TO REMEMBER: SARA BENINCASA'S DC TRIP

I have had a longtime love affair with Washington DC. I've been there 3 or 4 times and each time I consider moving there--until I remember the insane summer heat and the chilling cold of winter. And the awesomeness of the museums is offset by the craziness of the political realm--you really have to LOVE it to live there.

Alicia Deats is a new teacher. After a disasterous first meeting with one of her coworkers, she is determined to get Bryan Kenner to forgive her for a huge faux pas. Since Bryan is the head of the sohpomore class trip to Washington DC, she volunteers to be the co-chaperone in the hopes of apologizing. Her students quickly learn they can play Alicia's trusting nature against Bryan's critical one and while the rules have been drawn firmly in the sand, the students work to bend the rules and make this DC trip the best one ever.

Best friends Gertie, Rachel and Sivan battle their mortal enemies and try to manipulate their way around DC (and the rules) in order to find Gertie's dream guy (the one she's avoided at camp for years BECAUSE of her crush) and find a place where Sivan fits in... with a mix of underage drinking, drag queens and Doctor Who, DC Trip delivers the perfect kind of trip--one you don't have to pack for!

Who would read this: ya and chick lit fans, fans of comedy, anyone who has ever been on a class trip and lived to tell the tale.
Time to Read: 3 hours
Rating: 4.5/5 stars
Funny Story: Ian Michael Black gave glowing reviews, so I cannot complain.
Final thoughts: I think this is one of my favorite books of the year!

A very humorous, page-turning read. It's a realistic look at adolescence, paired with a more three-dimensional look at what a teacher is like. Can't wait for the movie!

This was a great book to read while on vacation in D.C. (especially since I could appreciate the fact that I was not currently responsible for a huge group of sophomores at the time). It's not an accurate portrayal of teaching, which usually annoys me to no end, but this read more as a satire of the extremes on the teaching continuum rather than ignorance of the profession. Plus there was a DragonCon allusion and a passage near the end that made me laugh like an idiot on my otherwise silent nighttime flight home.

This is honestly one of the worst books I've ever read. The only good thing about it was that it was a super quick read. The characters were one-dimensional, derivative, and unrealistic. The plot was boring and, for lack of a better word, dumb. Apparently this was originally written as a screenplay, but I can't imagine this would make a decent movie either. I just don't get it.
