In my single dad romance era!!!! This was cute. Fun read. I usually only enjoy age gaps if the youngest character is at least 25, but our main girl here is 22 and our main guy is 35. She is coming out of an engagement and is ready to settle down even before Dex comes in the picture, so that helps. But my God, Dex does not stop talking about how young she is. Sometimes, it's "but is she too young for me? is this a problem?" and that's cool and all but other times its "she's so pretty and young and pretty and young but like young pretty" and those vibes are just not for me.

Initially, I liked that Winnie's character fell in love often and forgave easily. In some ways, it worked well here. When Dex makes some small but still somewhat hurtful comments, she forgives easily once he apologizes and I actually sort of liked that. But when Dex really says some severely hurtful and mean shit, he barely even says a full sentence as an apology and she is immediately over it. I need a ~little~ groveling, at least.

I would probably knock this to a 2.5/5, but it was a fun read overall, so the 3/5 isn't bad. I think this is just one of those bad author-reader matches where I am just not going to like characters by this author.
