Jenn Bennett truly knows how to write a perfectly charming contemporary with the right balance of swoon and depth to pull me right out of a reading slump. This woman has never let me down and Chasing Lucky was no different. The characters were great, the romance was adorable and the story grabbed at my heart in a multitude of ways.

I really enjoyed this book. It was both predictable and misleading. This book is deep and I really enjoyed the characters because they all made me question their motives

Jenn Bennet is literally THE auto buy author for me. I don’t even have to read the description. A literal angel
Small town misunderstanding: sometimes when all you want to do is run away, the best thing to do is stay. Like mother like daughter, Josie wanted to escape her hometown to leave all the past behind. Her mom wanted to forget about the wrong guy she left. Josie wants to find her father who she thinks will help her achieve her photography dreams.
Side note, I don’t think I could know a guy named Lucky and not associate him with a dog. Luckily, Lucky does have golden retriever energy.

Josie is back in the town her mother grew up in. They left because of the 'curse' chasing them. She has plans on how she wants the rest of her life to go. Once back at the family bookstore though, she reconnects with Lucky, who she knew from her childhood. Like all Jenn Bennett, there are complicated families and a wonderful slow-burn contemporary romance.
I received this as an eARC through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
Josie's family is a hot mess. She is the result of a brief encounter between her mother and father. He split before she was born and periodically checks in throughout her life. Her mother is flighty and moves them constantly throughout the east coast. Josie spent many of her formative years living with her grandmother above their family owned bookshop in the town of Beauty. There she had a best friend named, Lucky. One night, Josie's mother and grandmother had a knock down drag out fight that ended with the police being called. Josie and her mother fled in the night and haven't been back since. As a result, Josie lost touch with Lucky. When Josie's grandmother and aunt go to Nepal for the year, she and her mother come back to Beauty to help her cousin mind the bookshop. On their first day back, Josie sees Lucky and sees that he has turned into a hot and broody dude. Josie is desperate to work on her photography and join her father once she graduates. When a vandalism attempt goes awry, Josie and Lucky are brought together and forced to take a look at their past.
Bennett so great at crafting characters and making her settings one of the characters. Beauty had its own feelings, history, and even a hell mouth (allegedly). This was a solid romance book with depth. The discussion of communication with family and truth were emotional and realistic.
