I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It gave me practical magic vibes just minus all the magic. Another great read of Jenn Bennett!
This book was super cute! I didn't love it as much as Starry Eyes but I really loved the way everything was wrapped up. The main characters were lovable even if a bit frustrating at times. I appreciated the portrayal of difficult family relationships and seeing how the main character dealt with them. Definitely a great read, always love Jenn Bennett!

Just like every book by this author it is a good contemporary romance. Full of light moments but also growth for the characters.
I think this may have been my favorite read. Lucky was so well written. I cannot wait to see what will come next for this amazing author.

I loved Chasing Lucky! I’ve been a long-time fan of Jenn Bennett, and this might be my new favorite book of hers. It has family drama, humor, and romance. I loved getting to know Josie and Lucky and follow their adventures through Beauty, RI!
Alright, y'all. If you're looking for a really intricate, contemporary YA book, then stop right here. Because unfortunately, this book is not for you. BUT. If you're looking for a fluffy and cute YA contemporary that will take you away from whatever problems you're having at the moment, then this is the book for you? It didn't hit the 5 star mark because it didn't have that umph factor, but I really liked this book!! I don't own it, but I liked it so much that I'll have to buy it when I get the chance!! And that doesn't always happen when I read books from the library. So this book is special.
The cuteness of this book starts off with Josie's (the main character) mom calling her "shutterbug". If that doesn't make you want to cram your entire fist in your mouth to muffle your squeals of how cute that is, then I don't know what will. If it wasn't entirely clear by the nickname, Josie enjoys taking pictures and wants to make a career out of it. Josie and her mom are moving back into their hometown to take over the bookstore, as the usual runners of the bookstore (Josie's grandmother and aunt) took a vacation to Nepal. But after Josie makes a mistake that could cost her her future, her former friend takes the blame. And so starts the rekindling of a relationship lost 6 years previous after Josie left town in the middle of the night with her mom. Honestly, this plot is so cute, and to see the rebuilding of a friendship was really nice and sweet.
I enjoyed a majority of the plot points and I think Jenn Bennett did a really good job with the pacing of the novel. The last 20 pages could've been extended into 40, but that's just me. I simply fell in love with these characters and wanted to see more of them!!! Josie and Lucky really got to me. If I could see a movie made from this book, all would be right with the world. I just can't get over how cute this book was, to be honest.
The side characters weren't as three-dimensional as others that I've seen written, but with how the book was set up, I didn't really mind. You knew that Lucky and Josie were the main characters and that's who you mainly saw. I liked seeing Evie and wouldn't mind a spin-off of her story if I were to make a suggestion. But I enjoyed following Josie and Lucky, you rooted for them the whole time.
This book did touch on some topics that a lot of books normally don't. Chasing Lucky actually showed you different family dynamics and how that can affect someone later on in life. Because of how Josie and her mom spent the last few years, Josie has a hard time making connections with anyone because she thinks she's just going to pick up and move again. So her making that connection with Lucky again was hard for her because she was so used to having her wall up and not trying. It also touched on Josie's mom going on a lot of dates. It skirted the line of slut-shaming, but never quite crossed the line. I got the impression that Josie was simply frustrated that her mother wouldn't talk to her or trust her with the dates that she was going on. Not that she was going on them in the first place. Although I could see how someone could interpret that differently.
The setting was really quaint and sweet. An old New England town where the main family runs an independent bookstore?? Sign me up. Please and thank you.
You could tell that Jenn Bennett spent a lot of time wanting to build up Josie and Lucky's relationship from where it was to where she wanted it to go. It didn't go straight to a full-fledged relationship. They had to work up to it and earn each other's trust back from what happened in their past. And what can I say? I'm a sucker for an angsty teenage boy that's misunderstood by his small town and yet loved by his humongous Greek family. We love that for him.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be picking up another Jenn Bennett book!! This book is perfect if you're just looking to have a good time and that's what I did! It distracted me from the world and gave me a sweet romance to follow. Would totally recommend! Happy Reading everyone!!

For a quick and simple contemporary YA novels, this was good and I've read a couple books from Jenn and I really liked it.
I really liked how well written the story was, the pacing was great and the characters were all relatable and likeable. Especially Lucky :). I really liked their relationship and some part of the story even made me smiling because they were just so adorable.
Although, there were moments when I was frustrated to read how Josie handled everything at first (especially with Lucky) before she started to broke down her "invisible wall".
Even the little drama near the ending felt unnecessary and it all happened just because of a little misunderstanding in interpreting one single text message. It even felt like the author was putting this little drama just to made them quarreled and eventually made up.
Moreover, I wanted to know more about Evie and the way Evie story was just ended like that in the last chapter feels a bit unresolved.
Other than that, I had a good time reading this.
I will definitely be on the look out for more books from Jenn in the future!
Actual rating: 3.5⭐

GAH. I just loved the character development and the way all the relationships developed and played out. The communication growth and mishaps seemed to tie into the characters so well!
Here’s me picturing a little seaside Gilmore Girls situation except where the soft “bad” boy “Jess” is the estranged childhood best friend vs the newcomer.
Loved it so much.

I really enjoyed this read. I felt that it had some of my favorite elements in books, small towns, small town secrets. I also really like the long term relationship that was developed in this read. I also like the characters being into photography, and loved how that structured the books. I also was invested in the romance so much. I also really liked the family elements. It was super fast pace read and it is def a solid read. I also really liked josie as a character! I also really liked Lucky as well!
