i DEVOURED this book!! this was such an easy and intense read. the plot kept me on my toes the whole way through. the italian setting is different and unique and the magical system is just getting started. this book was a lot of world building and early plot development but im so keen for the next two books!!!!

emilia the female mc was shaping up at the end but she wasn’t anything superrrr special. HOWEVER wrath could steal my soul and id beg him to keep it. he’s actually the main reason as to why this book was interesting and good because HAWT DAMN!!!!!!! the way this man talks made me ovulate. the bath glimpses and the kiss scene undid me.

nonna is slay too. i really loved this book and can’t wait for the adventureeeeee

I really enjoyed this book, so much so that I finished it in about 24 hours. Kerri has definitely mastered leaving chapters in a way that make you want more. I got caught into the loop of "one more chapter", then I'd finish a chapter and say, "okay, no really, one more chapter" until I was finished. While the cast of characters is limited, they all feel well-written and like they have their own voices. I appreciate the fact that each of the princes aren't *just* walking forms of their House of Sin, and can also experience the other sins as well; Wrath isn't some guy walking around pissed off 24/7, he has proper emotions and can delve into feelings of envy, pride, lust, etc. Vittoria and Emilia never feel like they're both the same character with a different name, something that can sometimes happen when writing twins, and seeing Emilia's journey throughout the book and how Vittoria's death affects her is a great journey to go on.

The only thing I didn't love was just HOW heavy of a role food played in this book. I love food, I love cooking, I especially love Italian food. However, it felt like half of this was a cookbook by how often ideas and preparation was detailed. While I'm all for the idea of reading a di Carlo cookbook, I would rather it be separate to this. It was nice to give her an interest outside of magic, at least.

The pacing felt off, and despite reading a digital version there were a few times I thought a page was missing.

I so badly wanted this book to veer away from the usual enemies-to-lovers trope with an enemies-to-even-bigger-enemies plot line, buttttt that was obviously not the case. Emilia and Wrath were painfully flat characters, and the plot was all over the place, so I can confidently say my favourite aspect of Kingdom of the Wicked was Maniscalo's descriptions of Italian food, lol.

2.5⭐️
it was okay and I will read book 2 but I was expecting better since everyone's hyping this book as a mind-blowing enemies-to-lovers...kinda disappointed tbh but maybe book 2 will be better
