Kingdom of the Wicked has been on my wishlist since February, it was very high anticipated release for me and it did not disappoint!
I knew very little of this book going in, apart from the fact that it was written by Kerri Maniscalco - who I love thanks to her Stalking Jack the Ripper series - and that the story involved witches and Princes of Hell. And that was all I needed to be interested in this book.
From the very first chapter, this book transported me into the world of witches and demons in Italy. Kerri’s writing seemed even more beautiful to me than in her previous books. I have to say, I love witches and witches stories, but often more than not, their gift is part of them and they use magic as they wish. But the magic system in this book reminded me of old timey witches, where they have to physically say spells and prepare ingredients for rituals and that is a small detail, but I felt like it definitely participated in the ambiance of this book, and made it even better for me.
Also, if you read the synopsis, you know that this book is about Emilia, a witch and who investigates her twin sister’s death. And I guess I also knew that this was part of the premise of this book, yet I was surprised by the mystery/investigation element of the story and I loved it so much. It definitely reminded me of Stalking Jack the Ripper in that aspect. But Kerri managed to create the perfect mix between mystery and supernatural elements. Something I also love about Kerri’s books is that she doesn’t shy away from gore and bloody scenes, which was perfect for this witch and demon filled universe.
If you read the synopsis you also know that a certain Prince of Hell, Wrath, plays an important part in this book. And I loved the tension between our two MCs! It is definitely an enemies-to-lovers situation (on the slow burn side), and hate is so present in this relationship, it felt wicked, but so good at the same time!
Also, the further I got into the story, the more I wondered how this book could possibly end for a second book to make sense. But Kerri did it perfectly! The ending offers some answers, but Emilia’s decisions create such an amazing suspense. I’m even mad I read this book in two days and have to wait god knows how many months to have the second book!
So, overall, this book was freaking amazing, loved every single moment and every single thing about it!

“I couldn’t put this down” would be an understatement. I read the last 200 pages in one sitting then immediately picked up the second book, reading over 100 pages in that.
The horror, adventure, romance, and everything wrapped up in that has me on edge. I just want more of the story. The tension between Wrath and Emilia is so thick. I can’t handle it.
I CAN’T BELIEVE SHE AGREED TO MARRY PRIDE! But Wrath is so protective and I love it.
We’ve met Wrath, Greed, Envy, and Lust. Still waiting to meet Gluttony, Sloth, and (of course) Pride.
Will Vittoria come back? What are the prophecies? What is the true curse? Does pride even need a bride? CAN WRATH AND EMILIA GET TOGETHER ALREADY?!

I will probably continue with this series because the plot was interesting enough to continue. However, I wish it was more fleshed out, I think it could’ve taken one more edit to get it just right
