Honestly, I think this was my favorite book in the series. I ate this book UP. I really loved the twists and turns, and I loved the world-building. I listened to it and read along with my Kindle, and it was so, so good. I loved that the audiobook was a little more immersive, not quite a graphic audio, but it had elements of it, like music and various sounds. SO good. I really thought it was a great opening to the series, and it drew me into the world so easily. I am really excited to get into the spin-off series and see how it's changed slightly being considered New Adult rather than Young Adult!
A colleague recommended it but said: “It’s fine but it’s not going to change your life.”
It felt fast-paced, and therefore I didn’t really believe the relationships between characters and the pace with which they developed.
Everything I predicted after the first 2 or 3 chapters appeared to be correct. So there wasn’t a big surprise.
Main characters makes some weird choices that seem out of character. But I think she is very young so maybe that’s a teenager thing, I don’t know:’)
Started the next one, already feels much better in pacing and inner monologue.
So in short, my colleague was right. It’s fine, but it won’t change your life.

Es un libro muy entretenido, se desarrolla en una cultura a la que no estoy acostumbrada a consumir pero que aún así me encanta. La comida italiana que describen uff increíble. Pero entrando en materia, tenemos a Emilia de un lado a otro todo el tiempo, tratando de buscar pista que la ayuden a descubrir quien mató a su hermana y entiendo que para que el libro y la trama avance los personajes deben moverse, pero con Emilia se siente como dar vueltas en círculos un momento está en un lugar, al rato en otro y después nuevamente en el inicio y sí, es verdad que en cada uno de esos va y ven tenemos nueva pistas, sigue siendo un dolor de cabeza. Y en mi entender esto es así porque ella es el único personaje que tenemos al menos el único que importa. Ella es la única que tiene el foco en esta historia y por eso siempre estamos con ella. Por supuesto está Wrath (ira) pero los momentos con él son como flashes, están ahí pero ella siempre debe ir a otra parte. Por otro lado sus padres forman parte de esta historia porque nadie nace sólo así que necesita padres y nada más, ellos brillan por su ausencia, por su nula participación, su abuela en cambio tiene más peso en todo el asunto pero esto no quiere decir que la veamos muy seguido. Y por último pero no menos importante su mejor amiga cuyo nombre ya olvidé, es un personaje pasajero, nos cuentan que es la mejor amiga de Emilia pero nunca no lo muestran en sí. Y aún así este libro me gustó. No puedo reconocer que es eso en específico que me haya gustado, pero como ya dije es entretenido.

Figured it was time to finally read this series, especially after devouring Throne of the Fallen. Loved the peep of my little angry baby Envy 🥹
Emilia and Wrath are still deep within the slow burn it feels like - but dang that ending makes me question!
I also still have so many questions - which I'm sure will be answered by the next two books.
