Bye Megan, Ash and Puck.

I can't wait to be reading about Meghan's brother and happy to see that this world of Fey isn't over yet. Thanks for the amazing series & journey you've brought your fans :)

This one was interesting because it was from Ash's point of view and previously everything had been from Meghan's point of view. I wasn't entirely sure how I'd like it because Ash is kind of cold and aloof but I ended up enjoying the book a lot. The river of dreams was fascinating and I loved the Big Bad Wolf. Grim continued to be my favorite character in the whole series. It was a nice ending (?) to the series.
Dear Mrs. Kagawa,

EVERYTHING HURTS. I don’t know how to begin this without being reduced into a bumbling mess but I shall try.
THIS BOOK GAVE ME SO MUCH FEELS. SO. MUCH. It’s not without its faults (hence the 4 star rating) but screw it - I’m more of an emotional reader than a critical one after all.
After finishing The Iron Queen, I highly doubted that its successor could manage to surpass the whirlwind of breathlessness and emotions that it delivered. And while The Iron Knight fell short of my expectations, it has its own brand of being memorable – and not just because it’s the last one in the series.
This book is quite… slow (for lack of a better term). It isn’t as action-packed as the last installment nor does it give you the on-the-edge-of-my-seat sensation. There is no sense of urgency, no heart-pounding moments. The Iron Knight is a character-driven book more than anything. It’s emotional and focuses greatly on character development (not just talking about Ash here). After all the adrenaline, it took me some time to get used to the rather subdued pace of this book, but just because it’s drawn-out doesn’t mean that it’s any less spectacular. In fact, it’s surprisingly more painful.
Apparently, it wasn’t in the author’s original intention to write a sequel to The Iron Queen. She had planned to conclude Meghan’s story right where it ended in the last book. That would’ve been perfectly fine for me, considering how thirsty I was for realistic endings – ones that don’t have happily ever afters.. But since the rest of the world isn’t an emotional masochist like me, she had to satisfy the whims of all the fangirls who demanded that Ash and Meghan end up together. And despite my minor reservations, I am glad that she wrote this. Not only because we get to meet our beloved characters one last time but because we get to know them in an intimate manner.
As I said earlier, this book is painful. AND I MEANT IT. This will twist your heart in more ways than one. Julie Kagawa has a way with writing relationships – she makes them so complex and just plain heartbreaking. Ash’s character development alone will be enough to drive you to tears. Then there’s Puck, Grim, the Wolf, and Ariella. OH GOD, ARIELLA. My precious little darling. *ugly sobbing noises*
The banter between Wolf and Grim is priceless. AND OF COURSE ASH AND PUCK. THOSE TWO ARE MY BROTP. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. I LOVE HOW THEIR RELATIONSHIP HAD PROGRESSED IN THE WHOLE SERIES. And PUCK – it’s the first time we actually see the depth of his pain and IT BROKE ME.

I WILL MISS THIS SERIES SO MUCH. I WILL MISS ASH AND MEGHAN AND PUCK AND GRIM. AND ARIELLA. NOW EXCUSE ME WHILE I GO RESUME MY SOBBING.

"I am still yours, my queen, if you'll have me."
I'm not actually sure what to say about this. I still can't believe its ended. It was a beautiful ending, and I'm glad it didn't just end with the Iron Queen.
I'm not sure this review will be good enough for this book. Julie Kagawa did it again, she brought to life the world of Faery and used the POV of one of my favourite characters. Ash. Julie Kagawa has such a wide creative imagination and she completely outdid herself in writing this book. It's such a fitting end to a great saga.
Through out this book we follow Ash on his journey to earn a soul and return to Meghan. The amount of emotions that went through me when reading his journey was incredible. The story was so well thought out and extremely brilliant that I was constantly left speechless. Few twists here and there. It was great to see Puck again, another fae favourite of mine, and for Julie Kagawa to join him up with Ash through out made it fun, and exciting. I loved Ash from the beginning, at first I was torn between him and Puck but I think it wasn't until Iron Queen that I finally surrendered to Ash and all his wonderfulness that I think I love him more now than I did before. If that's even possible.
I can't stress enough at what a perfect ending this was and I'm sad to be leaving all these wonderful characters behind. the Iron Fey series is truly brilliant, so many fun characters, excellent villains, full of jokes, romance and action everything you need in a YA series.
A BIG thank you to Julie Kagawa for bringing this series to the page, it's truly astounding and I honestly can't wait for more of her books.
I'd just like to thank NetGalley for allowing me to review this book. It was wonderful.

Love, love, LOVE! Truly the best book of the series. Kagawa outdid herself. This adventure of friendship and self discovery had me grinning from end to year nearly the entirely time I was reading it, with a small break for a whimper or two.
Some reviews said that this book could have been better. Hmmm, probably. But the thing is I do not think it was meant to be an epic tale like the previous Iron Fey books. I think this book was intended as a candy for Team Ash. In this view, this book really went for the home run.
The previous volumes of the series reminded me of Lord of the Rings and Midsummer Night dream. (Maybe a bit of Alice in Wonderland as well). The Iron Knight reminded me of a movie instead: What dream may come. You know the one with Robin Williams going to find his wife in Hell? Yep. Ash battles all sorts of creatures and while some author parade creatures like a dictionary (or a D&D book), Julie Kagawa only showed us her wild imagination. :)
Ash’s love and devotion is something to witness. A true knight that is. Sigh.
I liked how we saw the world through Ash's eyes. In battle, he would analyse everything like a warrior. It's very different from Meg's point of view.
Like I did before, here are questions to the universe:
1- Every time Ash was questioning his promise to Meghan to find a solution for their being together, his essence began unravelling. How is it then that his vow to kill Puck didn’t do the same? Yes I suppose Ariella was still alive. But he did not know that. And I suppose he was trying to kill him. But only trying. Puck said it himself that he was only toying with him. So yeah, maybe I am a bit paranoid I guess.
2- There is one other thing: I always thought that without a soul one couldn’t fall in love. But I guess it works here...
Oh gosh I kinda wonders what will happen to Puck now. No chance that we’ll know more? *puppy eyes*
Well this would make my 2012 summer vacation quite enjoyable. We didn’t have much money to travel this year, so thank you Julie Kagawa for making my imagination travel to the end of the World.

what is this book? why does this exist?
it was boring and flat and rushed and forced.
I hated it. Not to mention I found the entire book beyond illogical for the world the author spent three books building up.
She literally used three books to tell us "this is how it is. no way to change it."
only to be like "J/K you can do this."
FOR CRYING OUT LOUD SHE WAS A CHILD. Why would an immortal, who has loved and lost more times than she's breathed, give up everything for a whiny girl? I honestly do not comprehend the logic. He's not human, he doesn't feel emotion the way humans do.
I could understand these actions from a human. but not a fey. not the way she built them up to be.
ridiculous. I hated it.
Oh, and I figured out the entire plot about 400 pages before it happened. Literally, sometimes even word for word.
And I mean wtf about Ariella? Just no.
No.
too much love triangle. hate. do not want.
