welllll this was the least predictable of the bunch? maybe just because male protags aren't as prevalent in ya fantasy so there weren't quite as many tropes that could easily and readily be shoved into this without tweaking, since that seems to've been the formula for all the previous books. and i would've three-starred this for actually being freaking interesting but then........... let's see, female character gets fridged. TWICE. literally brought back to life in order to be fridged A SECOND DAMN TIME. cool. and then in the extra bonus story, it's revealed meghan is pregnant and literally immediately, in the next scene, she goes from being a woman with agency to an incubator in the eyes of her partner. neat. also...... it's still meghan and ash, which is built on nothing, i don't buy their love story, and they have done all they can to bind themselves to this relationship that makes no sense so i just get absolutely no enjoyment out of it. meghan's a freaking child and this is her first relationship and now she's married and pregnant at, what, eighteen, right? after sacrificing completing her education and her entire human half, including her family. awesome, these are just life goals, no? and ash falls for her because...... why? i still don't understand and it makes no sense and i really hate that everyone constantly pretends that it does.
i like the wolf though. the wolf is cool.

It was awesome!!! If someone is curious about Kierran and hasn't read Lost Prince yet check this out
Fey Heart
Fey Heart
Now that Meghan is the Iron Queen, Ash could no longer be her knight. Iron was poison to the regular fey and aside from that he was banished from the Iron Realm. But before he left Meghan, he made a promise that he would find a way for them to be together.
Ash wanted to be human so that she could be with Meghan in the Iron Realm.
Grimalkin, the cat-who-knows-everything, leads Ash and Puck to the person who could tell them how to get a soul because in order for one person to be human, he/she should have a soul. They need to find the Seer who could tell them where Ash could get a soul.
Ash, Puck, Grimalkin, the Seer and an unlikely character have to journey to the End of the World to earn Ash’s soul.
The road to the end of the world was not easy. They encountered obstacles and hindrances along the way.
The biggest struggle that they encountered was not the tests or the creatures that they faced but it was Ash himself.
THE REVIEW:
The Iron fey series was really an addicting one. I used to wonder why people were addicted to this series and now I know why.
I must commend the author for making the ending so damn good! :) Making the ending told in Ash’s point of view was just GENIUS.
I was not sure how long Ash’s journey has been but it did say a lot of things about him. The author really did a good job in filtering out the need to know about Ash in the first three books and completing all the missing pieces of Ash in the fourth book. Ash did things that he was not proud of but was never mentioned in the first three books but in the Iron Knight everything about him will be revealed.
I was a little disappointed in him on most part of the book because of something that has to do with his past. I won’t mention anything because I don’t want to ruin the surprise. There was this side of Ash that you will see here that you haven’t seen before.
The process that he has to overcome to be human was not easy. But I find his trials very necessary for him to have his soul. It was brilliant.
Puck showed how much a true friend he really is. I love Ash to the core of my being but still Puck would always be my FIRST love. He never left Ash’s side. I think he came with Ash not just because he was guilty about what happened to Ariella or he was doing it for Meghan but because he wanted to be with his best friend again, possibly rekindle their friendship. It was touching really. Even though Ash was pushing him away, he still stood by Ash all the way.
Grimalkin was the best cat ever. I wish I have a cat like him. Hahaha. It was funny because this cat got them out of most of the troubles that they encountered. What would they do without Grimalkin?
The Seer? Hmmm. I didn’t like her at all. Tsk tsk. No further comment on that
The Iron Knight was an excellent read. It didn’t disappoint. It went way above and beyond my expectation. There weren’t really enough words to describe how I felt for this series. Too bad it’s over. But I heard there would be a spin off. I wouldn’t miss that for the world!
A SOLID 5 FOR THE IRON KNIGHT! :)

I liked this book more than I thought I would. I knew it wouldn't be the same with a different narrator here which was a little disappointing. But in the end I thought it was a decent ending and I'm exited for Julie Kagawa's next series.
Finally, Ash's story. My main gripe (you knew it was coming) was the overuse of the word "smirk." Now, my Copy That friends all know how much I love a good smirk, but I don't want to see that word a bjillion times - even if that's all Puck and Ash know how to do. I would much rather HEAR the smirk that read about it. Geez!
Other than that, I found the story intriguing - especially the trials. They were much different than I thought they would be - for the better. :)
I'm glad I got hooked into this series. I guess I'll have to hunt down the first of the spin-off series to see if it's just as good.

Definitely wasn’t my favourite in the series, but I enjoyed some aspects

This was kinda hard for me to get into at first, since I was so used to reading the series from Meghan's point of view, but then by the end of the book, when it goes back to Meghan's voice for the last few pages, I'd had gotten used to Ash's voice and actually liked him by then.
I wasn't really a "fan" of Ash (not against him, just not on his "team" or whatever, give me Puck any day), I didn't like him much in the first 3 books - too cold, too snooty, too regal, something. Same thing that bothered me in Twilight, couldn't get the romance between the main characters. Anyway, his character is so much more developed in this book so we really get to see who he is.
We learn a lot about his past, before he met Meghan, a long time in the past actually and he was not a good guy then. He was a lot like his brother Rowan, who had a huge influence on the worst scene of the book. It made me extremely uncomfortable and just hopeful that teens reading the book would take it for what (I believe) it was meant -- what not to do and how awful such actions are, as well as how hurtful.
I also enjoyed more of the interaction between Puck and Ash and how their friendship developed over the years and how it was healed in this book. So glad the author resolved that and so many other issues in the book. I hate loose ends when a series ends. She left things open to possibility with the characters, but she didn't leave any questions of what about this? or what about that? on things she had talked about throughout the series.
Ash's previous relationship with Ariella is explored in huge depth and plays a big role in this book. Also, the Big Bad Wolf from the eBook between books 1 and 2 makes another appearance. Loved the interaction between the Wolf and Grimalkin the cait sith. I love banter like that (which is also part of why I prefer Puck).
This book is quite dark in some parts, but the gauntlet they had to go through wasn't as severe as I would expect a gauntlet to be. I enjoyed what the author did with that, though. The final trial I picked up on quickly, as I'm sure the reader is meant to, as well as the end result when Ash earns his soul. I was saddened by the sacrifice but loved how that was also dealt with at the very end of the book. I actually really liked that the book ended with that rather than the sappy reunion between Ash and Meghan.
As in her previous books, the author's writing is so vivid and descriptive and I can see everything in the book that she portrays - characters, scenery, action, everything.
I like the little "Survival Guide to the Nevernever" at the back and the sneak peak of the first book of her next series. Sounds interesting! However, I will wait until all the books are out before starting it, so it'll be a while until I read this author's work again.
Content: Some violence, not overly descriptive or gory. Most of it has to do with Ash's trials in the last part of the book, but the River of Dreams and some of the creatures and places they encounter on that journey are. Nothing I would steer teens away from. There is also sex, not descriptive, but a brief mention and you know it occurs. What really bothered me about that in this book, though, was that it was the boy using it to manipulate a girl and, again, hopefully the message comes through to teens reading it that that is not OK. I don't remember language in this one.
Again, a fabulous book (and series) so well-written, but, in my opinion, not for young teens, definitely older ones (those going on 20+!! ha ha)

PERFECT!
Ash's story is such a captivating one. I couldn't put down the book. Heavy with adventure, humor and love... The Iron Knight is absolutely amazing. The things Ash endured just proves that he is definitely for Megan. I wavered for a while when Ariella entered the picture again but after some time, it eventually went away since Ash already realized who he truly loved. I also admire Puck here.. always making the scenes lighter by adding funny lines.. he's also very loyal just like the Big Bad Wolf.
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE IRON KNIGHT. This is an unforgettable novel.
