The Iron Knight

The 4th book in the Iron Fey series was a tricky one for me.

I loved getting to see from Ash's point of view. His quest to become moral all for his lady love was great. But...

I can't with the unnecessary love triangle bullshit.

Don't get me wrong I love it when characters have doubts and question what they should do but ughhhh, stop! I don't need this "temptation" crap.

Surprisingly my favorite of the series. I though I would dislike it as the point of view switched from Meghan in the first three books to Ash in this last one but I really enjoyed it. Up until this book my favorite character in the series was Grimalkin, but now he is tied with The Wolf. I loved how they interacted as well as their individual personalities and how they were each more than they seemed.

I was apprehensive going into this book since it was told from Ash's point-of-view and it was set up as his own personal quest in order to be with the love of his life, Meghan, who is now the Iron Queen. Fortunately, I found Ash to be a fascinating character. I liked delving into his psyche and his past. Some of his past actions were far from honorable, but I still found him to be a sympathetic figure and a victim of circumstances.

I also liked Ash's camaraderie with Puck, Grimalkin, and the Big Bad World; they provided the usual snark and humor in contrast to Ash's brooding self. We also got to know more about Ariella, although that whole situation with her was a bit strange; I still can't reconcile the fact that

Overall, this was a fun read full of action, adventure, introspection, heartbreak, and of course a good dose of romance. Having a male POV is a refreshing change, as well. I highly recommend this book, in fact the whole series.

This book was much more enjoyble than the others so a higher rating! Amazing story! Ahh but the ending!

SUCH AN EPIC ENDING FOR THE EPIC SERIES

This book kept me on edge.! I was so sad about Puck , when he shouted at Ash about Meghan, and in this particular moment I understood that maybe Puck loves her truly! And Ash..... such a tortured soul! I mean, he thought that Ariella was dead- she won't! He made all this way to the End of the World for Meghan, he gave up he's ice- fairy nature for her , to earn a soul! Wow! I really need a fifth book! Is Ash really a human? Or he's immortal and can handle glamour as well as before he gave up his true nature? What about Puck? Will he ever be peaceful and forgive hiself for waiting so long? What favor will Grimalkin collect from Ash? So many questions! So many feelings! I love this series so much! I was crying before I realized it in the ending..! Omigod these words:

"Where have you come from , traveler?"
"I have come from the End of the World," said a quiet voice that made my heart stop beating. "From the River of Dreams, through the gauntlet and the Briars and the Deep Wyld, in order to stand before you today. I have but one request, to take my place at your side. To resume my duty as your knight, and to protect you and your kingdom for as long as I draw breath." He raised his head and pushed back the hood, and a gasp went around the throne room." I am still yours my queen," Ash said , looking me straight in the eye." If you'll have me."

How can you forget such words? And of course Grimalkin.. The last scene, it was the perfect ending scene! Thanks JUlie Kagawa for this amazing fairy trip! Keep writing!

P.S: Think about a fifth book from the side of Meghan this time. Or from Puck's. I would enjoy it, just like the others! You know how to create sceneries and characters that will break our hearts ! You know how a book keeps you on edge from the first sentence! Thank you.!

Finally, the book I needed! I've loved Ash from the beginning as much as I loved Puck, but not having his POV made it hard to really understand him. This book finally gave that to me! I loved the journey of Puck and Ash together.

Stories like The Iron Knight make me wish I was a review writing ninja, so then I could actually write something more profound than, THIS BOOK IS EPIC!

I never imagined that a journey I began back in April 2010 would lead to this. Yes, I knew that Ash, the former Winter Prince of the Unseelie Court, had a dark, destructive past, but to read about it from his account was heart breaking. Hearing about evil and seeing evil are two very different things. But, as much as it pained me to read about his past transgressions, I'm glad I got to see this other side of him. He has overcome a lot, and this book, his story, is a reflection of that.

The only thing I kept asking myself is, "Where's Meghan?" She was notably absent for much of the tale, and when you've grown accustomed to relating this series with her, as I have, then it's kind of weird not having her around. Secondary characters were loads of fun, and now I'm hoping for a Puck story.

quite good just took me a while to get through ... had a busy life this January
