The Iron Fey series has left me with an intense book hangover.
Cheers for that.
Cheers for that.
The adventure and humour in this are as great as ever, with so many fave characters back, and some new ones. But I think this suffered a bit for not having Meghan. She was in only two scenes, both of which were great of course, but it wasnt the same without her. More importantly, Ash wasnt the same without her. I really missed the super sweet things he always said to her that made my heart race. My heart did no racing while reading this one. There was no space for romance with a missing Meghan. The ending was perfect though, so I that's what really matters. Pretty much everything I would have wanted in an ending is what we got, minus Ash's ambiguous condition. This is still my favourite series ever, but this would probably be my least favourite of the four. But I hope to reread them soon since I dont remember [b:The Iron King|6644117|The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1)|Julie Kagawa|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1308972359s/6644117.jpg|6838626] as well as the others. I wasnt really disappointed though since the book is totally awesome. I just put more emphasis on romance than most ppl.
And I really didnt enjoy the tests, especially chapter 19 and 20. I knew they werent real but they were still so sad and I dont know why Julie felt like she had to put us through that. She could have made it much more brief and much more like a test. I am very glad that is not how things turned out, but it still left a little bit of doubt in me that I dont want to have.
I was surprised to read in the interview included at the end of the book, that [a:Julie Kagawa|2995873|Julie Kagawa|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1257816454p2/2995873.jpg] prefers tragic endings, but her publisher insisted that Ash and Meghan be together in the end. OMG thank goodness! If not for her publisher I may have died! But now I am a little worried about Julie's two upcoming series. I hope her publisher is super stubborn. :P

Dios! es perfecto!... es la primera vez en la que quiero que él quede al final con la protagonista principal :') estúpido y sensual Ash <3
I can't tell you how happy I am that Julie decided to write a book from Ash's perspective. Ash is my absolute favorite character (well, besides Grim of course), and being able to step into his head was fantastic. I was left unsatisfied with the ending of The Iron Queen (purposefully so) and have been anxiously waiting for this book.
At first I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make the transition into Ash's head. I kept having to remind myself that it wasn't Meghan talking. But soon, I was knee-deep in the Nevernever, with Ash, Puck, and Grim, and loving every minute of it. OH, and of course...the Big Bad Wolf. Yes, that's right, the Big Bad Wolf has entered the story with a vengeance, and I loved it! I love the way that Julie takes all of our favorite Fairy Tales, Classic Movies and her own brilliant imagination and smashes them together to come up with this series. I felt like this book was a mix of The Never Ending Story, Lord of the Rings, Wicked Lovely, & Grimm's Fairy Tales.
There was so much action in this book! I loved how you never knew what was lurking around the corner, and Julie certainly upped the ante with the creepiness of some of the new characters (Just in time for Halloween!!). There were a few that seriously gave me the chills! Uh...the thin man, that's all I'm sayin'. There was also an interesting twist on a love triangle. I have to say I loved seeing this through Ash's eyes. Poor, tormented Ash!!
All in all, I thought this was a great ending to a great series. If you haven't read them yet, now's the time, since there's no wait to find out what happens. I can't wait to read what Julie brings us next (Which, by the way will be a vampire book, followed by Ethan's tale! Yay, Ethan's getting his own book!) She has definitely found her way to my "always read" list.

P.S. I want this series to be made into a show or movie, and I want it to be anime.

I never thought I would utter these words but... I was disappointed with this book.
It could just be me, but I feel like Julie didn't capture Ash's voice well. At least, it didn't sound how I had always imagined how his thoughts would sound or his actions would be away from Meghan.
I also felt like the book didn't explain some things thoroughly enough (for me). It jumped around alot, and for the entire "final challenge" I thought that what was happening truly WAS happening. This also upset me because alot of the things I have been waiting for (like the wedding and child) went by so fast, without any elaboration, and when the "challenge" was over I paused and was like "Wait, what just happened? I'm so confused..."
Or, since I am big on romance, maybe it was just the lack of Ash and Meghan being together that made me not like this book as much as the other three.
I usually devour the other books in a day or two but this one took me about four days because I just couldn't get into it.
It picked up toward the end but, like alot of other scenes in the book, their reunion was sweet but brief and I feel like Julie could have done so much more...
All in all, a good book but I feel like soooooo much more could have been done with it! I guess I'm going to have to read some FanFiction to get what I didn't get out of the book and that makes me sad :(
