pretty stunning read.
this was actually a 4.5 stars for me (i had some conflicting feelings about certain characters and themes) but the writing and characterizations were so incredible and fully fleshed that i rounded up. nelson's a superb storyteller and crafter of words.

even if i had some issues with it, how can i give this less than five stars?

when i finished it my chest hurt. as i was reading it i felt like shit and i had the urge to go and hug my mom every time dianna was mentioned. and this book made me want to draw again!!!!

but yeah, this was definitely a sad book. Brian and Noah killed me, Jude and Oscar killed me, Guillermo and Dianna killed me, Jude and Noah killed me and so on.

I'm so happy it all kind of worked out in the end for everyone. I'd really like to read a sequel to this one.

No rating. Couldn't get into it. Really wasn't intrigued by the storyline or the characters.

I had a hard time reading this book because the writing was often choppy and difficult to follow. I had to read and reread passages to make sure I didn’t miss anything. That having been said, it’s not necessarily badly written or anything like that, I definitely loved some of the prose, but it was just difficult.

I also did really like the story and the way it was split between Jude and Noah’s perspective at different points in time. There were some really heart-wrenching moments, especially in the latter half. I did not however like the characters too much. I definitely preferred reading Noah’s chapters over Jude’s, especially when Jude was going on and on about Oscar (who is the personification of cliche bad boy in cheesy romance novels). I wished we got more from Noah or at least a glimpse from the twins at the different ages (Noah at 16 and Jude at 13/14) but alas there’s story telling in the pages that are not written.

I think I might re-read this later to see if I can come to love it a bit more.
