This book starts a new storyline and so far it is good. Love the new character Moonwatcher.
Excellent writing again. I enjoy these a lot. The climax of the story is really quite a surprise.

Such a fun series! My 10 year old son just loves this series and is always begging me to read them all. It's an easy and fun read and I am still so thrilled at how much he loves them.

This book halted my entire re-read of the series for half a year. When I first read it upon release I was excited that the series was still continuing. Upon reading the series multiple times I feel this may be the weakest book out of the entire series.
To start off. Moonwatcher just feels like a bland character. The most interesting part of her character is her insight into other characters based off of what is going on in THEIR heads, not hers. I feel her entire personality revolves around her powers. She’s insufferable and as the rest of the series goes on it feels like she has no real character growth. Her POV being so soon in the arc makes sense to introduce Darkstalker, since he is trapped in the mountain and cannot communicate regularly. But other than that she should have been later.
You do not need to read this book to understand the rest of the arc. During the first few chapters of Winter Turning they literally recap all important events from this book. I bought the graphic novel specifically so when I read the series I have a faster, more tolerable way to read this book.
