I’m not sure how to rate this! I loved the reunions and the new heroes and getting a little more time with Eustace and Jill once they’ve matured a bit, but it’s hard to know whether to like the ending or not. It feels wrong that Susan excluded for essentially being a normal teenager when other characters are shown empathy for much worse. And the xenophobia is definitely hard to read. It was missing the magic that made the other stories so wonderful, so it wasn’t my favorite of the series

this book was ass bro…

i literally have no problem with it being heavily inspired by christianity, in fact i expected that going into this. my only issue with this book is that it is full of racist, sexist, bigoted bs that sullies the religious context in this book.

the only good part was the religious pluralism which was a neat addition, but that’s literally it.

Ok honestly after reading through this series for the first time I'm quite underwhelmed. I loved the movies so I was excited to hear the rest of the stories, but it turns out the rest of the stories aren't that good.

I wasn't a fan of the blatant christian allegory in this book and the last couple; it really took me out of the story. Although I am not religious, I don't mind religious themes when they are done well, but it didn't even feel creative here. The world of Narnia felt so magical at the beginning of this series but by the end I am no longer feeling the magic. There was also again a lot of racism and sexism in this one.

I didn't have very high expectations for this book after the last ones, but the plot in this one was even less interesting and the ending to this series was kind of ridiculous tbh. I don't think I was invested at any point in this story, which is really not what you want from the ending of a series. Also, Susan deserved so much better than this???

loved this conclusion to the Narnia books ... now I need to go back and re-read them all since i had forgotten about some of the characters that appear at the end of this story.

Patrick Stewart could read a local telephone directory and make the experience of hearing it a worthwhile one. His performance is invigorating. The Last Battle is a curtain call, and even for a short book, seems to go on for too long. That said, Puzzle and Shift are entertaining characters, and it is a bit disappointing the book does not stay with them a little longer.

Although I'd read this book before, I had no memory of the ending. I wish it had stayed that way. By far the weakest of the series, not only were the allegories ham handed again, Lewis felt the need to interject actual biblical comparisons just to make sure we got it. Paraphrasing Lucy - "yes, in our world, there was also once a stable that held something bigger than all the world." And less than a year after he left Eustace and Jill to live happily ever, now he inexplicably reunites all of the characters from all of the books (excepting Susan) to die in a train crash (even though half of them weren't on the train) at the precise moment that Narnia ends. Only of course Narnia doesn't end because (insert ambiguous theological justification for why the afterlife will be exactly like the current world, only in technicolor and bigger.) In short, he lost me with this one.
