Gotdamn, this story is SO GOOD!

CONTENT WARNINGS (just a list of topics):
Spoiler body horror, including eyes, PTSD, child abuse, torture

I think the only downside, aside from how dark it is, is that I'd left it too long and forgotten some of the worldbuilding details. I was able to piece it together, but it took me a minute.

Other than that, the art, layout, themes, dialogue, character development...just stunning. That's the only word I have for it.

The artwork is amazing -- fine details and backgrounds enhance beautifully rendered drawings. The characters are interesting. My only reservation is that the plot was a bit muddy, and I had a somewhat hard time keeping track of what was going on. As the second volume of the series, readers will need to know what happened in Volume 1 to fully understand things. And this volume does not wrap up the story by any means. But all in all, this is one of the better ongoing comic book series being published.

Art is amazzzzing. The end super picked up story-wise so I'm very excited for more!

I was hoping to get answers to some of the questions I had coming out of Volume #1, but there was very little of that, which is both a little aggravating (ahhHHH tell me more about Tuya!!!) and also exciting, because the scope of the world Marjorie Liu is creating is incredible. There's so much going on in the background, and we haven't even doubled back to some of the characters that were introduced in the first volume. I want ten more volumes at least, and all of my questions answered. ...please.

If I could give just the art 5/5 stars, I would--the second star here is for that.

I binge-read this in one night. It was so good, again like the first volume, I loved the drawings and following the stories. Most of what I believed to be true form the first one holds true for the second. My favorite characters are still Kippa and Master Ren. I'm also enjoying getting to know the background of Zinn.

I will say that I enjoyed the first volume more than the second. I saw some reviews for the first volume felt that it was too confusing which I didn't really feel was the case. However, I'm getting to feel that way in the second volume. I think that since there are just so many new characters introduced and time jumps vs dreams vs reality really confused me in this volume. If the first volume was like a 4 for me, this is probably a 3.75.

I'm hoping that as the backgrounds are explored and I get used to the characters, I'll enjoy the next volume as much as the first.
