Mesmerising art... Now if only someone would explain to me what the fuck is going on! This has the feel of a book that's gotten away from its writer, of world-building completely devoid of discipline. It leaves the reader dazed and confused, especially when you're returning to this series after years, and the single page of "history" at the end of each issue creates more of a mess rather than summarising or shedding light on anything. That said, I haven't given up; I'm hoping the next volume will clear things up a bit. (Edit: It didn't.)

Monstress: Now on the ocean. This story continues to slap, it's riveting and I'm engaged. This volume slows down a little, thankfully, from the first. There aren't new concepts getting thrown at you left and right, so you're able to deepen your understanding of the world while still getting new incormation. I love the ocean story. Butch shark was a highlight.

No idea what's going on I have no idea what's going on here, I adore the art-work and several of the characters are very interesting but I want to care more and I can't find it in me, I care about a lot of the peripheral characters but the main characters aren't as compelling. I'm following more of the art than the story and finding myself lost in the pretty.

Yes, it's gorgeous artwork and I love the ambience. But I guess I was not in the mood for a dark complicated story. The worldbuilding is intricate but it's so, so sad! I finished it and had lots of questions. But because of the dark themes I won't continue the series. At least not right now.
