Thank you to Clarion Teen for sending me a finished copy in advance in exchange of a honest review
Ok I was real skeptical of the sequel given that it had been receiving polarizing reviews from early readers but for me it’s a page turner and In fact, I enjoyed it more than the first book because this one felt more put together and less predictable. There were still some similarities with ACOMAF but honestly I think it’s something most Fae books might have in common with and also they weren’t too prominent to the point that they’d Interfere with my reading experience
These Twisted Bonds picks up right after where it is left off and with a steady pace takes us deep into both Abriella’s past and future. Filled with hurt and betrayal Abriella takes off on a journey not knowing the slightest clue that there were things that are happening that were way bigger than her. There was a lot of backstory about the realms and two opposing courts which I immensely enjoyed, it was quite interesting without being too overwhelming. Another reason I was dreading is because of the unavoidable love triangle and I am surprised to realize that it didn’t bother me at all which,I think is because it is well written so it balanced out with the gripping plot
All the characters were enjoyable and I truly appreciated that this is a Duology. I thought the crucial scenes were little rushed but I’d take a quick narration over another book that will probably have lot of filler content. I won’t reveal the plot much because I feel like you’d enjoy it if you go expecting nothing or knowing as little as you can. That being said I think the story wrapped up nicely while closing all the loopholes and answering everything that might have left unanswered in the first book
I was struggling with an impending slump and this book really helped me cut through the slump! Overall I really enjoyed the duology

3.75 stars ~ Although I didn’t love this book as much as the first, I did still enjoy it. That sex scene right after Abriella & Finn escaped the underworld though? Lmao, personally that was so random and just unrealistic. I mean, I get the reason but I was like, really… now…?

I don’t know how but this book was worst than the first which is really saying something cause the first one was absolute crap.
I was excited in the first few chapters cause Abriella was really vengeful and angry so I was hoping she’d just kill everyone in sight. But as expected her annoying ass hero complex came back really quickly. She talks about how she wants to save everyone every damn page.
She kept talking about how everything would be better and easier if she wasn’t alive and honestly I agreed.
She had the same conversation about Bash and Finn every other paragraph. “Omg he’s so kind and good, I’m so attracted to him - no you can’t trust him, he’ll just betray you again.” Like please shut up.
Every damn cliche under the sun was thrown into this book. Couldn’t give less of a shit about any of the characters. The author was truly just making the magic system up as she went along. And finally that ending was such a cop out.
Edit:
Actually there’s more I wanna say. Why tf is the blonde boy on the cover when Abriella doesn’t even end up with him.
This book is like if I read the ACOTAR series when I was 12 and was like I’m gonna write my own book series that’s unrelated but inspired by ACOTAR
I get why people compare it to ACOTAR because it’s like a btec version but what you gotta bring The Cruel Prince in for??! Keep my wife’s name out your fucking mouth!
