I enjoyed the contradictions in the oankali, they weren’t presented as perfect beings they have flaws like humans. Lilith is the sacrificial lamb to both the humans and oankali, also not perfect but she is as close to it. I think it was a great story telling tool to have the whole book from liliths perspective and her relationships with all the characters like nikanj and Joseph in particular. Helped the different dynamics come across and was particular powerful in the room where Lilith was waking all the humans up, and then the forest section of the story topped this

Once again impressed by Butler, I’ve be come a fast fan. I think I’m 5 books in and I’m deeply invested in every world.

This was so strange I struggle to rate it or tell you about it. This is the perfect blend of dystopian and sci-fi. Tho I see some call it horror (which I mean technically…). Great story will be finishing the whole series.

I just feel the book could’ve given a tiny bit more in the last few chapters. Even tho I know there is a sequel. That would’ve been a disappointing stand alone ending.
