If you're into Yoruba Mythology, I think this is the darkest YA within the mythology that I've read yet. I thoroughly enjoyed the massive twists at the end (thank god, because otherwise it would have felt predictable) and can't wait for the second book.

This book came with the trigger warning but it did not let you take a second away from them. It was a very dark and hard read.

This book here...what a ride! A lot of trigger warnings, so please read them! This story has such a strong hold on my heart and soul..I could not put it down. It will live in my mind, rent free, for a long time! And to think the author took this story from headlines and made it her own...no words. I hope people will not only enjoy this fictional story but take away the true story and injustice the was the driving factor behind the author creating this masterpiece.

This book was incredibly intense and quite dark at time. Take the author's warning note at the beginning seriously. But MAN, this was absolutely incredible.

Thank you Harper Collins and Edelweiss for an arc of Blood Scion; here is my honest review.

Blood Scion has become my new favorite fantasy book! The characters are complex, and even when I didn't agree with their decisions, I understood why they made them.

Slone is a great main character that is put through a lot but still holds onto her humanity as she is put through horrifying things.

There's a lot of twists with this story that I didn't see coming, and the ending left us off on a cliffhanger. Usually I can guess what's going to happen next, but I really have no idea where the story goes from here. This truly shows me how great of a writer Deborah Falaye is. I need book 2 now!
