i was really more into the side plot of the mmc’s backstory than anything. i was growing concerned whether there would be any proper romance at all, but it developed nicely towards the very end of the book. there was a lil too much winking & laughing from mmc’s end, and it was too damn annoying at one point. the fmc wasn’t the most likeable, but it made her interesting. really liked the mmc’s family, especially prue the cutie, and how it was well depicted. all together a good read.

I didn’t love the main character Freya. She was annoying and a bit of a pick me. I could put up with all that because I liked the Bedwyn family dynamic. However, after chapter 18 we could have wrapped things up. By the end it was a drag. I’ll probably finish the series because I do find the Bedwyn family funny and I like the shenanigans they get into.
Delicious teasing and tension and pranks! I loved these two! I liked how Freya was so sure of herself and that Josh understood it when she showed vulnerability when others would have thought her arrogant. I also enjoyed the second half of the book where we finally get to see Josh as a person instead of a charming rogue.
Freyja is proud, haughty, contrarian, and bitter. Josh is a carefree rogue that takes nothing seriously. He barely had a personality beyond that, until we got to the last third or fourth of the book. Just rich people doing rich people things- fake a betrothal for what? Josh is a Marquess. He didn't have to do shit he didn't want to. And the Dowager Marchioness should have been dealt with from the get.
