3¼ stars.

Coming of age in Europe, then going back to Iran.

It was good to come back to this story. Marjane's transition to Europe and back to Tehran makes for an interesting read.

I felt it heavier than the first part.
I enjoyed but not as much as the first.

Touching and powerful memoir. I found it very insightful and enjoyable to read.

very good! liked it much better than volume 1.
dark emotional informative sad fast-paced

It's difficult to honestly criticize Marji's actions in Persepolis II, knowing that she's a real person. Though her actions in the first half of the novel were ridiculous, they are, on the whole, forgivable, as she was just a teenager at the time. It was wonderful to see her become herself and push for the freedoms she wanted in her country.

Was super hesitant to read part 2 and it no living up to part 1 but it did 100%. In fact I loved this one a little more only because I related to it a lot more than part 1

An insightful epilogue to Persepolis, this graphic novel beautifully illustrates the crisis of identity Satrapi faces when she moves west. As she comes of age outside of her home and distanced from her parents, she with who she should become. Complex, painful, and heartening at once, The Story of a Return provides closure to Marjane’s narrative.

Fifth book read for my Art of Writing Life class!! That was really great! I feel like my world knowledge opened up a bit more while reading this and getting such a personal account of a life completely foreign to me was so so fascinating. Wonderful!
