I love a good psychological thriller and that is just what I was hoping this one would be. The idea is wonderful. A young woman becomes part of a study on ethics and morality, she answers some questions via computer, collects her money, and end of story. Well, not quite. She meets the doctor in charge of the study and there becomes more and more questions.
The chapters are written in alternating views of Dr. Shields and Jessica. There was no indication at the beginning of the chapter as to who was telling their story but after a few sentences, it was easy to figure out. Dr. Shields chapters were boring. She was repetitive, self-centered, and all over the place in her ramblings. Jessica was easier to follow but not overly interesting to me. I struggled to connect to either character, I wasn’t invested in their stories, and I just could not finish the book.
Since finishing An Anonymous Girl I have looked at other reviews (I don’t do that before I read the book) and see that so many others have given it 4 or 5 stars so maybe I just didn’t give it enough time, although I made it to 25% into the book. I am also a firm believer that every book has its readers, sometimes it’s just not me.

I adored The Wife Between Us, and while the duality in narrative voice and intrigue was definitely present in this novel, I found a lot of the “twists” predictable and found myself just wanting everything to play out and wrap itself up.
I received #AnAnonymousGirl from #StMartin’sPress in exchange for an honest review. This book was incredibly gripping from the very beginning. The characters were well developed and left me wanting more even after the novel was over. I loved how Jessica’s story arc came full circle at the end!! I look forward to reading more by these authors soon, as this was the first novel that I have read by them!! Well done is all that I can say to do this novel justice and not reveal spoilers!
I hated the way they wrote the POV of the doctor. But I liked the story, I was invested in what was going on, I'm not going to say it was a twist but it was a little bit.
Interesting book told from the two main characters’ perspectives. I could see this made into a movie.
Received an ARC from publisher through Net Gallery for my honest review. **Thank you!!**
When the offer for this book arrived in my email box from the publisher, I almost passed on the book. I had tried the previous book by the authors earlier this year and disliked it so intensely, I couldn't even finish the book. I actually added to a list of "always avoid these authors". But. I decided to give this a shot anyway, and the description and cover did appeal to me.
Wow. I am so glad I gave this a shot! I haven't read many can't-put-it-down books in recent years, and so many of the psychological thrillers on the best seller lists are so predictable, I avoid them. This one was different. The twists happened chapter by chapter, rather than a big reveal. And, for the first time in months, I didn't see the ending coming. I accomplished nothing I'd planned to do, did only very minimal chores, and lost a few hours of needed sleep because I HAD TO finish this book. I HAD TO know what happened next. When I came to the last page, I was actually breathless.
The only criticism I have is the wording for the chapters narrated by Dr Shields. The wording is just so awkward. It didn't flow, and it didn't fit the character of Dr Shields that I was building in my mind. And I felt like it was inconsistent. I read some passages to my husband, and he agreed that the phrasing was a turn off, enough to actually say "Why are you still reading this?" Well, obviously because I was caught up in the story! :) And the chapters narrated by Jess are much different, very readable and the flow is fine.
So, I enjoyed this book so much that I actually put a hold on "The Wife Between Us" at the library. Maybe I should give it another try, and take another chance.

Simply put, if you’re looking for a gripping psychological thriller, look no further. This book delivers.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I kept getting distracted when I first started, but I just read the last 300 pages in one sitting. I will definitely be reading more of their stories. If I had to define it, I would say this is the movie Chloe meets Cruel Intentions.
Dr. Shields is one of the creepiest characters I've ever read. Definitely a page-turner with lots of twists and turns.
