3.5-4 STARS.

I suppose I liked this better than Gone Girl which I really disliked but not by much. This one felt very, very much like a copy of that and a jump on the contrived, suspense genre that it made popular and which, I suppose, I just don't like. This one was way more predictable and no real random shocking turns for me. I found this characters pretty close to completely unrelatable and distasteful. It was a bit of a slow sloggish read for me.

It wasn’t anything special. It was mostly discussing psychological ideals. I liked Jessica so that’s what made my rating okay, I guess.

3.5 stars
This is a very entertaining page turner. I found it easy to disappear into this web of secrets and lies. I pieced thing together relatively quickly, but it I typically do. I found the villain terrifying and tragic. I think I liked this book because it made me think about different scenarios from different perspectives. I wish it was something I had time and the patience to do throughout my day. I disliked all of the characters, and my thughts of possible redemption were swiftly crushed at the end.

Going into the last chapter before the epilogue, I would have given this 4-5 stars, but then I was so disappointed by the ending. It felt like a cop out, easy way out, predictable...

Meh, this was fine. I appreciated the second person chapters, but it didn't end satisfyingly enough. Still I will continue trying to solve my problems by reading thriller novels.

Wow! I didn't expect how good this book would be. I did not enjoy their last book, The Wife Between Us, for various reasons, which I detailed in a review, (that magically disappeared -- coincidence? I panned it) but this is a winner. A classic cat-and-mouse game ensues in the book that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the bitter end. Yes, there are some implausible moments, but you get past them because the writing and main characters suck you into the plot in such a seductive way. There are a few unexpected twists that will throw you and instances where you think things will resolve, but you are really forced into a false sense of security. Great thriller that will make a fantastic movie!
