It’s an enjoyable read, a slow burn that keeps you engaged, excited to see how it ends. Once it gets to the ending, however, it’s a bit of a letdown, a whimper instead of an explosion.

Had to DNF. I had read The Wife Between Us previously, and I enjoyed how it was written, but it was also very slow. This was the same, unfortunately. I wish their books were shorter. While they’re so well written and these authors are so talented and work so well together, I found myself bored and wishing desperately that things would progress more quickly.

I doubt I’ll pick up anything from this duo again, which is honestly a disappointment to me, as their writing style is so fantastic. Not for me.
dark emotional mysterious tense slow-paced

Slow-building storyline but keeps you interested. Overall it wasn't bad but it wasn't a "wow" thriller.

Decidedly over the therapist/psychiatrist is extremely put together but also a secret psychopath trope

I was really impressed with this book. The story is told in parallel points of view, so we get to experience what each character is thinking about the exact same situation. Every chapter leads to a different twist, that makes you want to continue reading on. In the beginning, I was not that hooked in the story. But by the time the anonymous girl becomes not so anonymous anymore, that's when the book picked up my interest and I couldn't let go anymore. I love psychological thrillers, and this is totally it - including two psychiatrists as the main characters. There's cheating, there are lies, there are deaths, and there's suspense. A book full of surprises where all starts as an academic study.
