I read this book in a short time period, it was addictive and held my attention and I enjoyed myself. However I have a few nit picky things that add up to deducting a whole star.
The chapters alternate between two POV’s, one written in first person, the other in second person. This book has two authors and I assume they wrote one POV each. The effect is very distinct voices, which is good. But I found the writing in the second person to be very weird at times. Sometimes the sentences were far to abstract to really get what was being said. There was also a lot of psycho babble which was just plain odd.
Reading this on an ereader, I was disappointed to notice that key plot points happened at exactly 30%, 50% and 60%. I felt that the authors obviously had planned out a plot structure and it felt very transparent. There seemed to be padding just to prolong the story until the planned plot change at the exact 30% mark, not 31%, not 32%...exactly 30% with a chapter break. I wish it was a little more organic.
I’ve come to expect twists in thrillers. Either there were none in this, or maybe I guessed them all? But I don’t think i did? Because it was very obvious and I’m sure they was even plainly stated in dialogue. Also I found the epilogue very confusing. I feel like maybe I’ve missed something major and plan on finding some spoilery reviews to delve into this story deeper.
Overall an enjoyable thriller and will continue to read more work this duo create.

A wonderfully written suspense novel about love betrayal and obsession! Thanks for my free ecopy netgalley!!
Interesting and well-paced, but I found it too predictable and I didn’t particularly like any of the characters.

If it hadn't been a book club read, I would've finished it in a day. This story had me so pulled, I'd get furious when I had to stop.
I enjoyed this book up until the last chapter. The build up was great, I loved the seperate POVs but the ending just fell flat. It almost felt like the authors got bored writing it, and ended it abruptly.
This novel was suspenseful in a way of not knowing the true intent of the character's stories. But after the first half of the book, it started to become quite repetitive and irritating in a way. I'm the same age as the main character. I could never imagine giving another woman complete control over my life. I could never imagine continuing to play along with someone's games after feeling threatened and afraid of what she had already come to find out. I was starting to feel like wtf why does she keep feeding into this shit. But it still ended up basically the way I expected it to. It was a decent read but def not a book I'll remember or recommend to anyone. Just a book to pass the time. I had to force myself to finish it in the end.
3.5 some good characterizations, but the ending was a bit flat for me
4.5 ⭐️ just dragged on at the end but a unique thriller
