3.5 stars. Good psychological thriller.

A new favorite

I love this type of book. It kept me on my toes beginning to end and I could not put it down. So many twists and turns and one mystery after the next. Highly recommend!

Wow, crazy story!!

I tried listening to this book twice from the library. I don't know what it is about it that I couldn't stand. It just didn't seem realistic or engaging to me.

Disclaimer, I was given a free copy prior to publication.

Holy guacamole! I was hesitant at first because while I love a good psychological thriller, I am "next Gone Girl"-ed out. Either too many authors are trying to recreate the success of that book or, quite frankly, they don't live up to the hype. But this one is legit.

I love the format of seeing the same situation from both sides so you can really see the different motivations and perceptions of the characters.

You may have to slightly suspend your disbelief at the end, after all, you spent the whole book in their heads so you feel you understand them. But it goes to show you that everyone is deceitful, even to themselves.

DID NOT FINISH: 16%

Was part of my read or rid challenge. Slow and didn't engage me which is a shame as I was intrigued in the first 20 pages but so quickly fell flat for me

Oh man. This book was so good. I could not put it down! There were so many twists and turns and the story did not go where I was expecting it to. Dr. Shields is one of those characters that you will love to hate.
dark mysterious tense medium-paced

Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I gobbled this one up in a single day. I like mysteries where all the characters are kind of shitty people, even the "heroine."
