An Anonymous Girl is about Jessica, a twenty something make up artist who’s struggling money wise and who stumbles across a study where she would get compensated from simply answering a survey, or so she thought. The story stems from there in some dark and twisted ways.
I might have made the mistake of reading You Are Not Alone first
However, part three was where it’s at! It was much faster and engaging than the rest.
Spoiler
I really enjoyed the game of cat and mouse between the two women and was definitely rooting for Jessica. That part made me feel things: mostly anger and worry and that ending was so satisfying.trigger warnings
Spoiler
:suicide, emotional and sexual abuse, stalking.
Jess is just a normal girl who somehow ends up in a psychology study. After the first couple of online questionnaire rounds, the person running the study wants to meet Jess in person for the next phase. Dr. Shields is nothing like Jess expected, the main thing being that she is the type of woman everyone wants to be. Things in the next phase of the study start off slow but eventually Dr. Shields has Jess doing assignments that she isn't too comfortable with. When Jess finds out more about Dr. Shields and her study, she becomes skeptical of the whole thing.
This is the 2nd book I have read by these authors. to me, it is very different than You Are Not Alone The ending was also very anticlimactic and seemed out of character for Dr. Shields

I don't read a lot of thrillers, but this one kept showing with great reviews so I gave in and boy am I glad I did. Having worked in a psychiatrists office in the past I found the subject matter facinating. Goodness, the questions that were asked in this book? They really made me stop and think how I would answer that and kept me turning the pages as fast as my brain could keep up. I've seen mixed reviews on the ending, but I thought it was wrapped up nicely or as nicely as a twisted tale could be wrapped up.
I am beginning to love these authors. The devil is always in the details and if you are paying attention you will realize the clues. I love the fresh plots in their stories, it's never the same old same old.

i think i'm in the minority with this one. the characters were SO FLAT and i truly didn't think the progression of the story was that interesting. the sentences were very short and not very thought provoking- at times i literally rolled my eyes at how bad the writing was!
i read a few reviews and while i didn't expect this would blow my mind, i thought it would be intriguing and somewhat suspenseful. overall, i was really underwhelmed with this one.

This book is written in three very surprising parts. If you have read The Wife Between Us, you know how each part will unleash things you didn’t think of and situations you personally feel involved with! Such a good book! Undecided how I feel about the very ending but such a good book!
Started off super interesting and addicting but the ending was kinda eh 🤷🏻♀️
I received an advance reader copy of 'An Anonymous Girl' by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen from St. Martin's Press for my candid review.
It's funny. I wasn't too impressed with their debut novel 'The Wife Between Us' as it had many predictable plot points (with perhaps the exception of THAT twist) but 'An Anonymous Girl' is quite a bit of check your brain at the door, don't obsess about character motivations fun.
A struggling to pay the bills twenty-something takes part in an ethics study that pays well and is administered by a mysterious psychiatrist. The plot escalates from there on to an interesting plot of cat and mouse. I'm not sure I rooted for any of the characters, but I was happy to see how it would turn out.

I didn’t like this one as much as The Wife Between Us but I still enjoyed it. It was an interesting story and a page turner. The twist in the story wasn’t all that shocking.
