Overuse of the phrase “silvery voice” but overall fun for October!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit - it kept me intrigued and a few times I stayed up way to late trying to finish it. However, as coincidental is it may be, the morality of the entire plot nagged at me a bit and therefore I didn't love this COMPLETELY.

Contrived. Gives a really bad name to psychologists, and it’s clear neither of the authors know much about psychology. There were many twists, and it’s not that I saw them coming but when they hit it was just eh. I got the impression the reader was supposed to be taken for a loop, but they just weren’t hard hitting. Overall, a really disappointing read with lame characters.

Greer Hendricks has never been my favorite, but her books always sound good so I keep giving her chances. An Anonymous Girl was a great read!

3.5 rounded down. Interesting book, wasn’t sure where it was heading sometimes. Lots of twists that keep you hooked. Slightly underwhelmed by the ending so not giving a four but worth the read overall.

More like 2 1/2 stars, but I'm feeling generous.

Based on reviews I'm not sure if I read the same book as everyone else, but this was a big let down. Maybe it is because I have read so many thriller books, but I found this one to be incredibly boring and I am still waiting to figure out what the "gasp-worthy" final twist was. I would have rated this 2.5 stars, but rounded up as it was a fast paced read.

3.5 stars - I liked the writing of this (even though the passive voice and second person was a bit annoying) and the suspense building but it was mostly just okay. Not many twists or thrills, more of a slow-burn psychological story.

To be totally honest, this was was...pretty boring. I'm never opposed to a slow burn, but wow this one was sloooooow. I kept waiting for something drastic to happen, but nothing ever really did. This falls more under the umbrella of thrillers that aren't really all that thrilling. While this type of book is great for someone who wants a thriller but doesn't want heavy amounts of violence, I've come to realize that slow burn thrillers aren't really what I'm looking for in the genre. Give me the gritty thrillers!

This book also has one of my least favorite tropes, which is "The Useless Boyfriend." Noah straight up didn't need to exist. His character did absolutely nothing for the story, and every time he showed up I found myself thinking "what was the point of that?"

I will say, I have to give credit to Hendricks and Pekkanen for making the voice of Dr. Shields so effective. Her perspective was so creepy and chilling, and and I felt my skin crawling every time she started narrating. A+ for the spooky vibes.

I mean these authors don’t really miss, so I was entertained throughout. Twisty, psychological suspense , vibes that kept me guessing (perhaps too much?) till the end.

Felt a bit outdated bc sister girl was geeked over $500 for like insane activities lmao
