LOVE the narrator of the audiobook, and I loved their first book because of the twists and turns. This one was pretty predictable for me, but I do love the voice it was written in.

I can’t even formulate coherent thoughts about this MIND BLOW of a novel. I feel like I’ve just come up for air. What an experience... yes, this was an experience. To put it simply....who can you trust? If you have to ask, then you already know.....
Classic psychological thriller, but with enough twists that it’s not predictable. Excellent book.
3.5 ⭐️ rating
Page turner, suspenseful, nail biting
I was nervous at times reading this
Each of our main characters had full on behaviours
I feel like the development was a bit too swift, even with the extreme circumstances
Easy read, enjoy

This was okay, though I wouldn't really bill it as a "thriller," as I just didn't feel much suspense as I read. I was on my shelf and I read it quickly; its not one I'd recommend to someone looking for a great book, but if you need something to read and its in front of you, it'll do.
Hell hath no fury and damn do I love to see it.
What I particularly liked about this thriller is that it never verged on over-the-top twists or ridiculous plot points. It remained realistic in regards to human nature and the things we’ll do. I never once rolled my eyes and went, “OKAY. MIGHTY CONVENIENT” or, “OH, COME ON.” I love a good plot twist and evil characters, but I often find authors try to be too much like brilliant Agatha Christie or twisted Gillian Flynn that it the book falls flat and feels false (unintentional alliteration).
This one did none of that. You have a handful of very human characters who are navigating life in their individually flawed ways.
I admit I’m 10000% biased toward a strong, intellectual, clinical female character, but I think the writing of Dr. Shields would draw anyone in. I could feel myself falling in love with her knowing full well she was being shady AF. Did that stop me? Certainly not. And was that the point of the writing? Certainly was. I’m fully aware Dr. Shields could tell me to jump off a bridge and I’d ask her if there was a dive technique she preferred.
The hype didn’t lie with this one. Which was unexpected tbh because THE HYPE ALWAYS RUINS EVERYTHING BY SETTING THE BAR TOO HIGH.
Okay, but listen. Half the book is told in this almost 2nd person POV way that I’ve legit never seen done so well before. It uses a mixture of 2nd person and passive voice (remain calm, grammar fiends…REMAIN CALM) in a way that’s both unsettling and alluring. I was impressed.
And, for anyone who cares, I read this via audiobook and the readers on it were

This book was... okay. There are certainly a lot of twists, some of which were a surprise, but for the most part, it was pretty predictable. The authors didn't seem to do much research on the professions of the characters, which was also a bit frustrating. I will say that the story flows well enough that I stayed interested, but I just wanted a little more in the resolution of it than we got.
