This was a bit of a slow starter for me but once I was hooked I couldn’t put it down! I had a lot of moments while reading where I found myself thinking “there’s no way that’s where this is going to go next” and sometimes it did but other times it threw me for the biggest loop. If a book messes with my head and leaves me feeling a little spinny I know it was a good one.
I also liked how not everything ended up how I wanted it to. Of course we all root for the perfect ending but I kind of like how a novel that was a little far fetched left some more realistic outcomes mixed into the storyline.

Hat mir gut gefallen mit den zwei Erzählstimmen. Das gruselige, ist doch, dass es genau SO passieren könnte. Lesenswert!
Just finished this book. I thought it was good. It kept me interested at times I couldn’t put it down. A must read
Reread! Honestly, not my favorite. Reading it made me feel really down, because the main character essentially gets into this awful situation where no one will believe her no matter what. Justice prevails in the end, but... yeah. So much of this book is so hopeless, I felt like it was messing with me mentally.
Listened to this as an audiobook. It was fine, and I was interested in the general premise of manipulation through a psychological study, but I found it got a little repetitive and dragged on for me. I enjoyed the protagonist and her struggles with her family relationship more than I did the silly machinations of the antagonist.
I’m not usually one for thrillers, but this one kept me engaged the entire read. I definitely enjoyed this book more than the wife between us and highly recommend it
A psychological thriller, with heavy emphasis on psychology. I was drawn in from the beginning, and eager to see how things unfolded from there. Things get messy as I bounced around wondering who held all the puppet strings in this twisted triangle.
A truly unbearable protagonist but the plot was plotting
This was one of the more enjoyable suspenseful page-turners I've read in a while. I had trouble putting it down, and when it ended, I didn't feel like I'd been tricked (which is kind of how I felt at the end of Da Vinci code, as well as some other forgettable books in this genre). Is the plot realistic? Not really. But that didn't bother me. Also, apparently it's been optioned by the same people who made Sharp Objects, so I'm excited to see how this is adapted into a miniseries or a movie!
