I feel like giving this book 1 star is already being too generous. I can't believe it took two people to write this book...this was a fucking mess. Yep, I said it.
This was the first and last time I'll read anything by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. This is their second book together, I've heard a lot of hype around their first book (The Wife Between Us) but wasn't really interested in the synopsis and when I saw this new release I decided to give it a try.
There are so many problems with this book I don't even know where to start. First off, HOW is this book categorized as a THRILLER!? According to Goodreads:
All of the characters in this book were one-dimensional, unlikeable, and flat. They had no personality and I didn't care about them one bit.
Every "reveal" and "twist" that happens was a huge disappointment and the entire story was just a waste of time. Save your money and move on.

Thrillers are characterized by fast pacing, frequent action, and resourceful heroes who must thwart the plans of more-powerful and better-equipped villains. Literary devices such as suspense, red herrings and cliffhangers are used extensively. This book has none of the characteristics to be considered a thriller. The pacing of this book was so freaking slow! The chapters in the book alternate between two POVs but both POVs are retelling the SAME EVENT only from different perspectives. It made the story so redundant and irritating to read. I really disliked the writing in this book, the chapters switch between second person and third person which doesn't make the story flow at all.

Found this pretty un-put-down-able. The twists aren't cliche, and the writing is pretty seamless, considering there are two authors. Fun weekend read.
1,5/5
I disliked "The wife between us" so much that I couldn't read more than 50 pages, it was so boring and predictable, but I thought that I would give the authors another chance, since the summary of this one was intringuing. Well, I regret that choice lol. The plot of this novel seems interesting until it basically becomes a rip off of "Behind her eyes" by Sarah Pinborough (which i didn't really enjoy either).
The pacing is at times slow and other rushed. The narration from the point of view of the psychiatrist is absolutely unbearable, she just sounds like a psychotic robot, and I absolutely despise the use of the second person, it's lazy writing to me. The repetitions were annoying to no end, why do we need to be told that the psychiatrist is beautiful every. single. time. the main character sees her in person? There are also many threads of the plot that bring nothing to the story (Danielle, and the main character sister, or Noah for example.)
None of the characters have any personality apart from one trait; the psychiatrist is a crazy robot, jessica is a poor naive girl and Thomas, idk, he's there, I guess. The interactions between the characters are completly unbelievable, I get that Jessica needs money but the fact that she just tells the story of her entire life to a stranger and then never question any of the things that the psychiatrist asks her to do is just irrealistic. How blind can your main character be?! There are no flags of any other color but red in this whole situation and she just keeps going?? Why?!! How can one be so passive? None of the characters have any interesting motivations and I was just frustrated with all of them.
I wouldn't qualify this novel as a thriller actually, it's very predicatble, the twists are obvious as soon as a sentence foreshadowing them is introduced. The final confrontation is completly underwhelming and lackluster.
I'm sick and tired of seing the plot centering over two women, one a naive borderline stupid girl, the other an older psychotic obsessive woman and the husband of one of the two being used over and over again, it's overdone, and it bores me out of my skull.

This was a really decent book and a pretty quick read. The Wife between us was better, but it would be hard to top that one in my eyes! If you like like thrillers these two ladies will always have you questing until the very end.
Slow in parts, but very intriguing overall. A fun read for book club.
3.5 stars.
Pros:
- I enjoyed the dual perspectives in this novel. One told in first person and the other told in second, made the atmosphere so close and eerie.
- The development of the characters throughout felt realistic (in a sense). I understood why a character was acting a certain way for the most part, and I enjoyed the descent into the final conflict.
- I think the trope of a woman losing her mind over a man is overdone, but it was used in quite an elegant way here.
Cons:
- The husband felt so bland and cookie cutter to me. I couldn’t understand how he had swathes of women falling for him everywhere he went. WHY?
- A particular sentence structure really bothered me throughout the novel. ‘“I’ll be there,” Thomas is told.’ Over and over and it felt too clunky to me.
- While the atmosphere was good all the way through, the final climax was dragged out too long. It lessened the impact overall and made me exhausted to keep reading.
Some things I liked and some things I didn’t. 3.5.

Really twisted book that kept me on my toes. The end was not what I expected but it did seem like a little bit of karma.
What a Wild Ride
This book had me hooked from beginning to end. This book goes from a simple book on morality to a game of wits. I just kept flipping the pages because I had to know how everything would play out at the end and the ending did not disappoint. If you like books that will keep you thinking and want to find out the truth this is the book for you
