2.5 stars. Predictable and a tad boring. I had really high expectations after reading “The Wife Between Us” but was definitely let down.
Pretty good. It had many more twists than I was expecting, which I appreciate. I like that different plot points didn't end up with happy endings but there were two things that didn't get resolved for me so I needed just a little bit more.
This is a difficult book to review.
On one hand, I couldn't put it down but then there were huge chunks that were really annoying and I struggled not to skim through.
Jessica is a make-up artist living in New York. Through choice, she doesn't have many close friends, but she's happy living on her own with the dog that she rescued and hooking up with men every now and again. She struggles with money though and signs up for a psychological study which is being conducted by Dr. Shields. Jessica assumes that this will be easy money - answer a few questions and that'll be that.
But before long the questions that she is answering become more invasive and Jess is told to be in certain places, wearing certain clothes and to speak to certain people.
Jess begins to feel paranoid and as though Dr Shields is watching her every move. Jess starts to wish that she hadn't been quite so honest in her answers and before long she is wondering who can be trusted.
Through reading this, one begins to see just how easy it can be for someone else to subtly collect some very sensitive information without you realising it.
I don't think I actually warmed to anyone in this book - but I don't think that was a negative and certainly didn't stop me from wanting to finish the book.

Once you suspend belief and just allow yourself to enjoy the story, it is compulsively page turning and fantastically twisty!
I was intrigued by the beginning of this book but in the end I did not feel like there were any suspense or twists. The plot turned into more of a domestic drama.
I’m so torn on this review. I loved the beginning of the book, I devoured it, but then the middle dragged out. I want the plot to pick up, I found myself wanting to skim over parts, but I couldn’t do it, I was so invested that I didn’t want to miss one single word. So I just agreed to have a love/hate relationship with the book.

4.5 stars rounded up. The one reason I’m docking half a star is because the writing style of certain chapters was really hard for me to follow. Other than that I loved this book! It was suspenseful and surprising and kept me captivated from the very beginning. One piece of advice: don’t read too many reviews on this book, just dive in without too much foresight or expectations. You won’t regret it!
This book had me so thoroughly confused. I couldn't figure out who was who or was the person you were supposed to root for. Once it was worked out then the book just ended.
I thought the overall plot and concept for this book was really intriguing and although I still enjoyed the book, it just fell a little flat for me. But not bad at all, it was a very interesting story, nonetheless.
