Just for the record, I’m not for or against Mr. Romney, and this review is more about the contents of this work than about its subject. I always find it hard to rate biographies/autobiographies because it feels like a judgement of the person.

Having said that, I would give this a 3.5, rounded up here.

It was interesting to see our country’s recent history unfold and what Mr. Romney’s take on it all was. In my opinion, I think he saw and still sees what is taking place pretty clearly.

I also think that the scope of this work should have/could have been broader and more in depth as far as Mr. Romney and his early life are concerned. That part consisted of randomly chosen highlights/lowlights. Maybe he’s saving more for an autobiography on down the line. I did feel the author had a bias in certain areas, and that was unfortunate.

There were parts that made me laugh out loud, sometimes because of humor, and sometimes because what was being said or expressed was laughable.

Overall, an interesting read and insight into current events.

A fascinating look at a man who seems to be a rarity in politics these days. He gave unprecedented access to the author, and it really showed. If you’re also into seeing what a politician really thinks about other politicians during presidential runs, you’ll enjoy this was the author also had access to Romney’s personal journals.

Fascinating biography of a true public servant committed to principles rather than partisanship. How the United States desperately needs more people in government like him.

I didn’t expect to be so drawn in by this, but it’s a powerful read. Romney comes off as someone genuinely guided by his ethics—even when it cost him politically. His early efforts to push back against Trump were eye-opening. It’s a reminder of what moral leadership can look like, even when it’s not popular.

Wow. Thought provoking. Vibrant. Important.

I don't want to write a review for fear of not adequately expressing how necessary this book is. Whether you agree with Romney's politics or not, I'd recommend giving this a read. This book highlights the importance of self examination and integrity at a deep level.

Coppins does such a good job of capturing Romney. The good and the bad. This book is so well researched with almost 100 pages of notes/sources. Hats off to you, McKay, for being so thorough and so engaging.
